“Tana was the most perplexing creature who’d ever graced these halls. No matter what Amon did, nothing got to her. He’d knocked over her things, moved items to new spots, he’d even opened doors right in front of her. She acted as if nothing happened and moved on. Not a whiff of fear. “Hi there,â€� he said casually.  “Uh, hi. I was just…cleaning.â€� She knew it sounded lame, but what was she supposed to say? “The drawer?â€� he asked. “Yup. full turn down and everything.â€� She widened her smile, trying to sell the obvious lie.  “Interesting.â€� He moved closer to her, and her heartbeat rose, a shiver running down her spine. “Did you find what you were looking for?â€� “No…I wasn’t…I mean, -â€� He tipped her chin up so they were eye to eye. The words faded from her lips. Silence filled the space. The only sound was her heart thudding in her chest. He leaned in further, their lips almost touching. “You could just ask, snow bunny. I would tell you anything you wanted to know.”
