Kelly Milner Halls specializes in high interest, well researched nonfiction for young readers. Her books include TALES OF THE CRYPTIDS, SAVING THE BAGHDAD ZOO, IN SEARCH OF SASQUATCH and ALIEN INVESTIGATION. But she is also an avid YA fan and loves realistic fiction including GIRL MEETS BOY, the anthology she edited for Chronicle (January 2012). Her first short story is in that anthology. She hopes it won't be her last. When she's not writing or doing school visits, she works for her friend and mentor Chris Crutcher in Spokane. ...more

Kelly Thanks, Daniel. When I wrote those science fair books, my goal was to make a few of them inexpensive and "doable" without adult assistance, because I used to work with so many kids who had no family willing to help. Those kids are traditionally shut out of science competitions and that's so sad. I expressly wanted to level the playing field a little. They might not WIN with those experiments, but at least they won't be left out, for lack of money or help. So I hope you enjoy them.

Kelly
