Jennifer Scoullar Bio

Jennifer has always harboured a deep appreciation and respect for the natural world. Her house is on a hill-top, overlooking valleys of messmate and mountain ash. A pair of old eagles live there too. Black-shouldered wallabies graze by the creek. Eastern Spinebills hover among the callistemon. Jennifer lives with her family on a beautiful property in the mountains, that was left to her by her father. Horses have always been her passion. She grew up on the books of Elyne Mitchell, and all her life she’s ridden and bred horses, in particular Australian Stock Horses. She has nine published novels. Brumby’s Run (Penguin 2012), Currawong Creek (Penguin 2013), Billabong Bend (Penguin 2014), Turtle Reef (Penguin 2015), Journey

The reason the books are listed as #1 and #2 is because they are part of a loose series. #3, The Memory Tree, has now been released. I'd never thought about people regarding the the books as parts of a whole. I shall give your suggestion about removing numbers some thought. Thank you for your interest and your kind words :)(less)

‘Wild Horses Release Day

I’m thrilled to share that my new novel, Wild Horses, is out in the world today!

Cover of the novel 'Wild Horses' by Jennifer Scoullar, featuring a woman with a horse, set against a green background.

This story is especially close to my heart a tale of second chances, the quiet strength of country communities, and the healing power of horses. Set in the foothills of Queensland’s stunning Bunya Mountains, Wild Horses follows Christy Peacock, a city drama teacher whose life is upended by scandal. She escapes to

“In this modern world where activity is stressed almost to the point of mania, quietness as a childhood need is too often overlooked. Yet a child's need for quietness is the same today as it has always been--it may even be greater--for quietness is an essential part of all awareness. In quiet times and sleepy times a child can dwell in thoughts of his own, and in songs and stories of his own.”
