As often as possible. I know this sounds simple, but a lot of people, especially new writers, will put up blocks for themselves. They'll claim they aren't good enough, but here's the secret:

No one is immediately good. You try and fail to learn to ride a bike, but you keep trying, keep failing, and then... you succeed. The same applies to writing. You have to pursue it, desire it, and keep writing no matter what. If you want to get better, you have to keep going.

Reading does help. So if you find yourself absolutely stuck, pick up a few books and get lost in the stories. Figure out what you love and dislike about each title. You can bring anything you learn into your own writing in the future.

But seriously, just write. And keep writing. You can learn to rewrite and edit once you've learned how to write.(less)

On Vacation During NaNoWriMo

My NaNoWriMo graph never looked so fantastically ... fantastic. Wow, those NaNo words are doing great things for my vocabulary, am I right?I decided a few months ago I was going to take a vacation the first week of NaNo to see what my life would be like if I treated my writing like a full time job. Mainly, I wanted to see how much I could get done within that first week. Not only did I finish
