Haunted Attraction by Marla Holt [image error]
Who knew unexplained footsteps and a haunted house could lead to such an unlikely attraction?
Jess Lewis doesn’t have time to wait for the contractor. The more delays she runs into with this bed and breakfast, the less time she has for that too. And why does the contractor have to look like he belongs in a hot construction worker calendar? Being late for her next appointment and being forced to come to terms with her bisexuality is too much to handle on only one cup of coffee.
Matthew Zimmerman is a contractor by day, mystery author by night. When his new client is identical to the femme fatale in his books, and just as surly, Matthew has trouble remembering that Jess ended a relationship with a woman. But then they keep hearing mysterious footsteps in the house, he realizes there might be more going on under the surface, both with Jess and the house.
Jess and Matthew have to question what they’re seeing, hearing, and feeling on their quest to find out what’s haunting the house. Or are those ghost investigations just an excuse to give into that tempting attraction?
Haunted attraction is a slow-burn paranormal romance with a bisexual heroine, just the right amount of spooky, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Get cozy with this steamy haunted house romance from Marla Holt today.

[image error]What Pharaoh Wants by Marcelle Sixx
“One more month and Robyn is officially mine. Hopefully he was the last one that she tried to sleep with. If not… He slid into his car and gripped the steering wheel. “I feel bad for the next jig and her too. I’m done with the games. I want my wife and the power that comes with her.
David Pharaoh was a vicious man. A truce between his father and another gentleman included a promise of young Robyn. After mastering the art of Dark Magic, Pharaoh decides that it’s time to take his prize. However, when Robyn rejects him, he stops at nothing to make any man who comes close to her suffer for even so much as looking, and to prove to Robyn that she only belongs him.
He would make her temperature rise with his invisible touch, or when he disturbed her dreams. Robyn’s loins ached as if he had truly invaded her in the wee hours of the morning. He would make sure to save the painful part of the first stroke, and only made her feel what his slow and meaningful penetration was like. It would always make Robyn wallow in passion and squeeze at her erect nipples before she would realize that she was being manipulated. Pharaoh was becoming much better at forcing himself inside of her dreams and make love to her before he would dissipate into nothing.
Robyn, held in the clutch of something that she hadn’t known she was involved in, is determined to get away and stay away from Pharaoh and his mischief. But at what cost? Anything can happen in the city of New Orleans when the son of Voodoo wants the princess of White Magic.
Blood that Binds: A Vampire Romance (Blood [image error]Legends Duet Book One) by Melissa Winters
Everyone always told me I was crazy, so I believed them.
But I was wrong, and so were they.
I’m not crazy. It’s the rest of the world that’s blind to the monsters living among them. I should rejoice in my sanity, right?
Wrong again.
Being clinically insane would be better than reality. In that scenario, the only person who’s in danger is me. Stolen from my life to be sold off to the highest bidding vampire to live as a blood slave would seem like the worst of my problems.
Not even close.

Must Read Monday Book Review for “The Stories Stars Tell by CL Walters
Emma-Christian daughter of Mo and Amy Matthews, big sister to Shelby, lover of John Hughes films, and Salutatorian of the senior class-has spent her entire high school career playing it safe because she stifles her risk-taking gene for perfectionism instead. This behavior isn’t necessarily because that’s who she is, but because of all of those external expectations wrapped up in her parents approval and the religious messages she’s grown up believing. She’s not a perfect girl; she just feels like she’s supposed to be. Now, she’s headed to college in the fall ill-equipped to face the challenges of real life. Though that one time junior year when she got drunk for the liquid courage to coerce Tanner James into kissing her might be an outlier, unlike most of her well-laid plans (even if she got what she wanted), she took the calculated risk to squash her infatuation for Tanner and it didn’t work. She still wants to have sex with him.
Like Emma, Tanner hasn’t forgotten that kiss junior year either, but for entirely different reasons. Party f-boy extraordinaire has reached high school graduation without options-a dead end. He’s made choices rooted in the expectations of his friends and their pact: the Bro Code. Except, he’s tired of the party life and the Nowhere it leads. That junior-year kiss changed something in him, and now he’d rather be at home reading his favorite book. As graduation and the great empty beyond looms, Tanner questions every choice he’s made. This upheaval unravels the protective box he’s built to insulate himself for all the real stuff he’s been avoiding, namely his older brother’s death and the volatile divorce of his parents.
One week before high school graduation, Emma and Tanner find themselves face-to-face at the edge of a cliff at the Quarry when it’s time for the partner-jump during the traditional Senior Send Off. Under the light of the stars, they both face the terrifying adventure of making a different choice. Tanner asks Emma to be his partner; Emma says, “yes, both risking everything to write a new story they’d thought had already been written. It’s just that change always has a price.
My Review:
My new favorite book.
Beautifully written coming of age story that transports me back to my own senior year of high school and graduation. Every reader will be able to relate and identify themselves in one of the characters. In The Stories Stars Tell CL Walters covers real, difficult, life topics and feelings that teenagers face in a way that’s enjoyable to read about.
Emma and Tanner are incredibly likable characters that immediately find a home in your heart as they struggle to find their own identities while attempting to live up to the expectations of the people in their lives.
If you only read one book this year, make it The Stories Stars Tell by CL Walters.

Must Read Monday Review for “New Beginnings by Janet Olson
Ida and Engen’s 13-year-old friendship is altered when the death of their friend comes between them. Engen, guilt-ridden over Janelle’s passing, has become violent. Ida, in her grief, attempts to fill the loss with a one-night stand, which leaves her pregnant. As punishment, their parents force them to join a program called Youth of America Help a Nation, and they are sent to Africa on work assignments. Enter Lev Rosen, Ida’s irresistible boss at the orphanage where she’s been appointed. Lev has his own connection with Ida, although she doesn’t know it yet. Engen hoped the time away would give him the courage to finally tell Ida his true feelings for her, but how can he do that now that she is getting closer to Lev?
My Review:
Janet Olson’s “New Beginnings is far from a typical young adult romance. It’s also a fish-out-of-Water, surprise baby, friends-to-lovers, everyone sees it but them, love triangle that takes place at some point in the future and spends the majority of the time in set in Africa.
While I had a hard time relating to the characters and felt the storyline was a little slow, it was an interesting and unique enough story to keep me reading and I think the second half of the book was better than the first.
I was constantly torn between the two love interests: Lev and Engen. Before finally selecting my ‘ship in the last 25% of the book.
I loved the obvious tension in the relationships and the fact that this book is so different from others.
I recommend this book to anyone that loves young adult romance novels and is looking for a break from the usual storylines and settings. Just beware the cliffhanger at the end!

Write About It Wednesday: Alternative Medical Care
Happy Write About It Wednesday, Writers! On Tuesday, I had a consultation for Sensory Deprivation and Float Therapy. Today, I will be floating in the Sensory Deprivation tank for the first time.
A flotation tank is a lightless, soundless tank filled with highly concentrated Epsom salt water heated to skin temperature. Flotation, also known as sensory deprivation, is simply the act of relaxing in a flotation tank; with all sights and sounds removed, and drifting into a meditative state that rejuvenates your mind and body. [image error]
Sensory Deprivation
Sensory deprivation is the removal of stimuli from the senses. In a float tank, sight and sounds are removed. The air and water are also heated to skin temperature, so it becomes impossible to know where your skin ends and the water begins. And, of course, you are floating. As I am writing this I haven’t experienced it yet, but I imagine it’s like floating in space!
Floating in a tank creates the perfect conditions for removing all external stimuli. This is the sensory deprivation element. Your vision is restricted in the pitch black; apparently you can hear nothing but your own body. You are completely buoyant in the Epsom salt water. This supposedly leads to a feeling of zero gravity with no real concept of up, down, time or space. I am so excited to try it out!
Flotation Therapy
The science of sensory deprivation is known as Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST). REST in a float tank has shown a transition from alpha or beta brainwaves to theta, which would ordinarily only occur before sleep and waking. In a flotation tank, theta brain waves occur whilst the user is fully conscious. For many users, this allows for great creativity and problem-solving. I definitely love the idea of increased creativity! YAS! Help me write even more books and blog posts!
Relaxation
The environment in the float tank completely isolates the senses and blocks out all distractions including gravity, temperature, touch, sight and sound. This leaves you in a deeply relaxed and meditative dream-like state like the state you enter just before you go to sleep.
Your brain uses a lot of power to deal with the strain of gravity on the body, however, in an isolation tank, your body and mind is freed from gravity so can fully relax. As a result, the brain does not need to send out any commands to the body so activity in the logical side of the brain synchronizes with the creative hemisphere.
This changes the brainwaves from alpha to frequency delta and theta waves, causing you to enter the meditative dream-like state whilst fully conscious.
Benefits
Flotation can benefit everyone, from athletes and creatives to businesspeople, the elderly, and those with medical issues. Flotation is a form of alternative medicine and boasts an extensive wealth of benefits:
Stimulates the release of endorphins
Creates calm and total relaxation
Rejuvenates the mind and body
Alleviates mental and physical stress[image error]
Helps with fatigue and jet lag
Improves sleep and insomnia
Improves creativity, healing, and visualization
Expands awareness and heightens senses
Enhances mental clarity and deepens your mental state
Improves self-realization and discovery
Helps with anxiety, depression, and motivation
Helps with phobias and addiction
Helps with PTSD symptoms
Decreases the perception of pain
Relieves bones, joints, muscles
Relieves aches, pains, and strains
Relieves arthritis, migraines, and rheumatism
Relieves fibromyalgia
Helps with pregnancy pain
Increases blood circulation and lowers blood pressure
Improves immunity
Helps athletes produce less cortisol, adrenaline, and lactic acid
Helps athletes visualize their performance for success
Helps athletes master the inner game and synchronize mind, body, and emotion
Reduces the risk of further injury and overtraining
Resets the body’s chemical & metabolic balance
Speeds up the healing process and recovery
All of this sounds just so good for my Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression. I’m so excited to try it out. I’ll probably do a little before and after video on my Instagram to let y’all know how it goes.
Since I am trying out this new treatment today, I thought Alternative Medical Care would make for an interesting Write About It Wednesday theme for today’s writing prompts. So far in my writing, medical treatment hasn’t played a very big role. Just brief mentions of hospitalization or treatment. For example, in FRIENDZONE, Mikayla is being treated by a psychologist for her depression, anxiety, and grief.
Write About:
An alternative medical treatment that you’ve experienced or wanted to try.
Medical care in your WIP. Any characters experience medical treatment. Is medical treatment the same in your setting as it is here today?
Write about someone who develops a new medical treatment. What are they treating? How did they come across this new treatment? Why do they want to treat this particular ailment?
Write about a character that is nervous for their treatment. What are they being treated for? Is it an invasive procedure?
Write about a character that seeks out alternative care from someone other than a typical healer. Do they go to the Fae? Aliens? The witch on the edge of the woods?
[image error]Have medical treatments played much of a role in your writing in the past? Do your characters frequently get injured and have to bandage themselves up? Or do they seek long-term treatment for a chronic condition? Have you considered what your characters health is like? Do they get regular checkups, or do they hate going to the doctor/healer? Let me know in the comments!

Write About It Wednesday: Healthy Eating
Happy Write About It Wednesday, Writers
This week in my personal life I am really trying to refocus on healthy eating. Get back to cooking meals, counting my calories, focusing on macros and micros, making sure that I am buying and cooking foods that are good for me and nourish my body instead of eating whatever is convenient and tastes good. I admit that I’ve been eating junk, junk, and more junk during this whole pandemic and quarantine situation. Ordering a lot of takeout and not really doing any meal planning since shopping was difficult with so many items being out of stock constantly and trying to do all of my shopping through online ordering and delivery.
Anyways, this isn’t a recipe, health food, or diet blog, this is a writing blog, so let’s get down to the writing. With my personal thoughts being centered around healthy eating this week that is our theme for today’s Write About It Wednesday.
Writing Prompts and Ideas for Character Development:
What does eating healthy look like to your character? Are they a health nut or does healthy eating to them mean getting a burger with all the veggies?
Are your characters in a sci-fi or fantasy world? Are their foods the same there or do they eat unusual items?
Write about a character who is obsessed with healthy eating and weight loss.
Write about a character who works for a diet company.
Write about a government conspiracy surrounding food, agriculture, and the diet industry.
Write about your own journey with healthy eating.
Write about a character with an eating disorder.
Write about a character with special diet requirements and/or food allergies.
[image error]Did the COVID-19 Pandemic and Quarantine mess up your health/eating/diet goals for 2020? Do you meal prep? Have you ever thought about your WIP characters eating habits? Tell me in the comments!

FRIENDZONE IS NOW AVAILABLE!
FRIENDZONE IS OUT NOW! AVAILABLE ON AMAZON IN PAPERBACK OR KINDLE FORMAT.
To get out of the Friendzone, you’ve got to shoot your shot
Taylor Echols He’s my mortal enemy. My boyfriend’s best friend. He bullied me in middle school and has ignored me for all of high school. But when tragedy strikes and I experience an unexpected loss, he is shockingly there for me comforting me and reminding me about all the good things in life. Now he has me feeling complicated and confusing emotions. I’m so close to trusting him to wanting him. I’m feeling things I didn’t think I could ever feel again. Feeling things for Taylor I would never have imagined possible. He’s here with me every day making me laugh, supporting my dreams, and cheering me on. He’s earning back my trust, my friendship, and my heart piece by piece. But is this new Taylor the real Taylor? Can I trust him with my heart? There’s a fine line between love and hate. Taylor Echols and I have walked side by side, flirting with that line our whole lives.
Mikayla Hightower She’s the girl who has always been too good for me. Unattainable. My best friend’s girl. All I want to do is make her smile, but my past mistakes make her wary of trusting me. My loyalty to my best friend makes me feel guilty for the way I look at her and think about her for all the things I want to do with her and to her. Not that it matters. I don’t do girlfriends. I have to stay focused on basketball, school, getting into a good college, and drafted into the NBA. Mikayla’s pull is strong, though. All she has to do is flash that smile with that damn dimple and I’m wrapped around her pinky finger. She might just be enough to have me rearranging my priorities. Jordan would understand, right?
FRIENDZONE is a 96,000 word, full-length novel and is part one of a series. There is a cliff hanger. HEA guaranteed by end of book two.
Recommended for 18+ Content Warning for grief, survivor’s guilt, depression, teen drinking, strong language, and explicit sex scenes (all sex scenes are consensual and all characters featured in them are over the age of 18).

Inspiration behind FRIENDZONE
-Mark Twain
[image error]My book FRIENDZONE, which comes out on September 01, 2020, is loosely inspired by two separate people and events in my life. It is NOT an autobiographical or true story. I simply came up with the story of FRIENDZONE after meditating on these two events.
When I was a kid in elementary school, there was a little boy that I spent a lot of time playing with. He was always in the same classes as me, we played basketball together, and rode bikes together. My parents always teased me that he and I would grow up and get married since we were always together. But when we moved on to middle school, we ended up in separate friend groups and drifted apart.[image error]
Then, the summer before my senior year of high school, a boy that I had recently started dating died suddenly due to an electrical accident. I was devastated and not prepared for the death of someone my age. It was very unexpected, and the loss changed and reshaped me and my future.
I decided to write a story that covered these two different events and topics: changes in friendship and grief, because they are very real and hard lessons to learn as a young man or woman. In your teen years, your friends and the people you have relationships with feel like your whole word and it’s devastating when you lose them in a way that I don’t think is the same at any other age.
I chose to set this story during the end of the characters senior year. At the transitional period of graduating high school and beginning college. This time and age is my favorite to write about because every single decision and action you make is monumental and affects your future. It’s an exciting and scary time in teenagers lives. They’re excited to grow up, become adults, and take charge of their futures, but at the same time are scared. Suddenly they’re responsible for themselves. Suddenly they have to be adults. They’re out on their own for the first time. Many leave behind everything they’ve ever known as they move away for college, move away from their families, move away from their friends. They leave behind the familiar faces and places that they have known their whole lives. They’re no longer attending school with the same people they grew up with and saw every day for twelve years of school.
At this age everything feels bigger, more vivid, more real, more life and death, bigger stakes. That’s why I love writing stories like FRIENDZONE.
Because I was inspired to write FRIENDZONE based upon my own experiences, it’s been such a real labor of love to write. It’s very much a piece of my own heart and soul in a way my Kiss Series books weren’t, even though they were special to me too because they’re the first books I published.
With FRIENDZONE I talk about the struggles of grief, guilt, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and living up to the expectations that other people place on you. All things that I’ve personally struggled with in my own life.
I hope that when you read FRIENDZONE you might be able to find small pieces of yourself in the characters and the story too. That you find you are able to relate to the characters and see yourself and your friends in them too.
I hope you enjoy reading FRIENDZONE when it releases on Amazon on September 01, 2020.
[image error]P.S. Fun Fact: September 1st is my birthday, and because this book is so special to me, I decided to share my birthday with it! That’s what made me choose September 1st as the release date!
