Leopard's Scar: My Thoughts

I wanted to share some thoughts and behind the scenes of the writing of .

When writing a book in a series I pretty much know which character I’ll write about next. For the Leopard series it was going to be Gorya. His book was in my head, and I knew his story. I sat down to write it and suddenly this total stranger shows up! She was loud in my mind and so vivid in her character that I couldn’t stop thinking about her. This was not Gorya’s woman. I knew that.

Then another stranger showed up. Handsome, smooth, sophisticated and wild. Lethal. I tried to ignore him and go back to Gorya but those two strangers had other ideas.

Meiling is such an amazing character. She’s strong, self-reliant, funny even. The more she spoke up, the more I knew I had to write about her. He was extraordinary and unique. And he was unlike other characters in this series in many ways. But he was certainly a leopard. I wasn’t going to be able to write Gorya’s book until I wrote the story of these two strangers. And something inside me said they had to come first, I just didn’t know why yet.

So, Meiling and Gedeon took over the position of Gorya’s book.

These two new characters went back and forth between New Orleans and San Antonio. And they stirred things up. It was tense and I worried that issues with previous characters, that I love, wasn’t going to end well.

When I got toward the end of the book I realized this had to take place first for Gorya’s book to be written. It couldn’t have happened any other way. And I’m excited for readers to find out why.

Who is your favorite Leopard series couple?

Maureen Gianinio I love all the Leopard Couples, but i must say these two are near the top of the favorites! Glad they stepped forward to pave the way for Gorya! Im excited to see who comes forward for my Gorya, he's such a wonderful character, love his presence in the books and all we’ve learned about him.

Adaiah Meiling and Gedeon have moved Fyodor and Evangeline into 2nd postion. I love reading about strong women. I think Meiling and Evangeline compliment each other and are go8ng to be great friends and sisters of the heart Both women will take a bullet to protect those they love.

My guess is that Gorya's going to tak over a Mafia spot and Gedeon's going to be his 2nd or Security head. If so, I can see why Gedeon's story needed to be told first.

Carol L Cridge I loved the cover- she looks like that in my mind too. Perfect little terminator. Sounded like Gedeon was going to take the job, I hope so, Loved this one!

Eileen Zhou I loved Eve and Theo. My favourite couple to boot.

Cynthia Is there a reference list of characters in each book to see how they all fit together? I’m glad I read Christine’s thoughts on this book because I was really confused by 2 completely new characters. I had to go check and see if I missed a book. I went all the way back to book 1 - and tried to remember the characters in Borneo there seem to be ethnic pockets/ families of leopard people: original leopards in Borneo, then others in South/Central America (Lospostos), New Orleans (Tregres), and in Texas, the Russian Amurov leopards mostly dominate. How do these 2 new characters fit in?
Is there a family tree to show the relationship?

There isn't a family tree. These are totally new characters.

Cynthia Ok, thank you for responding. Do you have a flow chart or story map that helps you track the series?

Barbara Miller I did love Leopard’s scar, but it was not my favorite. I can’t wait to read Gorya’s book. I don’t profess to remotely understand how you write so many beautiful stories. The worlds you create definitely make me want to be there instead of here, and while I am reading them I am actually there. That’s how beautifully written they are. Thank you for this story. While I like the previous stories more, I did
Enjoy these 2 characters. It was a whole different feel than the other books.

Everyone has different tastes in stories. Even me! I think a lot of people really wanted Gorya's story. But I really loved this couple so much.
I won't forget Gorya. I promise!
