I have recently found books 2-8 and I've never read the series before. I hate to be the person to ask (but I seem to have trouble finding the first), is it okay if I start with the 2nd book? (I suppose once I find the first I can always go back and read it)

Sequoyah No, I suggest reading The Eye of the World first. Try your local library. Mine has the entire series.

I devoured the first book but was disappointed by the ending. I have started The Great Hunt but I am having trouble keeping up interest in it after a few chapters. Is it worth continuing?

After the prologue and a good first chapter there were about 50 pages ofâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðdont know yet :-) just wanted to say I feel exactly the same way about vol 2. After the prologue and a good first chapter there were about 50 pages of exposition, which were tedious to read and could have been replaced to better effect with a simple list of characters (like dramatis personae, in a play). Picking up now but I am a bit underwhelmed so far.(less)

Does anybody else here think that the Ogiers are symbolic for freemasons?

Do the characters every get better? Holyyyy crappp they are so whiny and boring and lack character development. I'm halfway through, and I honestly need hope not to quit. Rand is boring, oblivious, and borderline stupid. Mat is a huge jerk per usual. Nynaeve is not just prideful, she is unlikeable and a jerk. Please give me hopeee
