There are 208 pages of excerpts from someone's diary, with oddly placed line breaks, occasional doodles and chapters with theme names, so you'll know which emotions the author is trying to squeeze out of you.(less)

I believe it to be appropriate for a high school library, not because they may find the trauma, raw sexuality, and stark feminism shocking...but because they may find it FAMILIAR.

This book is about acknowledging the hurt done to us by ourselves and others, and how to go about healing those hurts. I don't believe that is something that should be censored. (less)

There is no attention given to imagery, to alliteration and assonance, and the rest of the toolkit of real poets.

The freeverse poetry is basic enough that it can be understood after just a few moments but that also gives it the element of being simple enough that you can remember it long after you read it.
Reading about abuse and rape is highly triggering for me, but I actually wasn't too triggered by this book.
I recommend it highly to survivors of sexual trauma male and female, but I feel that other audiences cannot appreciate it for what it is.
As for the content- is your definition of quality perfect grammar, perfect layout, the right word count, or is it the potential of the words to unlock new ideas and dialogues on humanity? Because I define quality by the latter. Many survivors of sexual trauma are pushed to self-help books and books on psychology post trauma- this book is HUMAN. This book speaks in a way the others don't precisely because of it's poignant simplicity. This simplicity generates extremely intense contemplation of self that diagnoses, therapeutic exercises, and other methods of self-help can't touch in the same way. You become a person with problems, rather than being the "problem".(less)
