Did not enjoy this book, can someone tell me why it was considered for an award?

Anyone agree that this book should have won Booker prize 2017 and not the unreadable Lincon (La La Land) way overrated read Autumn three times, don't do that often.Am now reading Ali Smiths 'Winter' obtained from the library.This is also as good as Autumn if not batter.?

IvanOpinion For me, no. I had not realised that these were the same Booker shortlist, which is interesting because they are, in a way, quite similar in the way thâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðFor me, no. I had not realised that these were the same Booker shortlist, which is interesting because they are, in a way, quite similar in the way they jump around incoherently. But I loved the fever-dream experience of reading Lincoln, whereas I found Autumn frustrating.(less)

I've not read anything else in this series, and I'm having trouble getting in to Autumn. Should I read one of the other books first?
