Is it just me, or was the ending a letdown?
Jane I thought it was a good story by King's alter-ego. It kept me guessing until the very end. It would have been a total letdown if Joe didn't survive.

Did anyone else have a difficult time getting into this book? I had to force myself to read the first half, then finished the second half in one day.
Janis A Jaeger YES! It was quite boring to me. No excitement at all...even at the end. Not much of a storyline for King.

I consider it at the level of Lord of the Flies type of book which is an approved school book. If your child can read and understand that book, then this book can be read by the 12-year-old.(less)

Hilary It was written in the 70s. My copy says 1973 at the end.
