Is this really the end of this book? I absolutely loved this, but people said this book was really sad. That Jonas or someone in this book died. But no one did. Is my copy missing a chapter or two? Does this book have a sequel that incudes Jonas? What happens after they ride the sled down the hill? When they reached the place where Jonas had visited in the memory, was that supposed to indicate that they were dead?

So, I've done the math, and it seems to me that a girl in Jonas's world, if chosen randomly for Birthmother (I know they're not) would have a two in three chance of becoming one. Did Lois Lowry realize this? Why is the Assignment still so looked down upon, almost? And wouldn't there be a lot of male workers filling other positions then?
