I saw 'Animal abuse' in the content warning. Is it just one sentence or one page? Or, a complete paragraph, chapter or recurring theme that I would not be able to skip? No details please :) just trying to decide whether to read this one or not. It looks like a good book, but I can't bear to read about animal abuse. Thanks in advance to anyone with the answer.

Is this book going to be related to her debut novel "The Summer that Melted Everything" in some way? Since it takes place in Breathed, Ohio, just like her debut novel does.

Would someone please explain the burning of Leland? Is it supposed to be metaphorical?

Liz I think so? By the time I got to the end it seemed like part of the point was that Betty saw the world through her dad's storytelling, and that the liâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðI think so? By the time I got to the end it seemed like part of the point was that Betty saw the world through her dad's storytelling, and that the lines between reality and "beautiful lies" were blurred on purpose. That was the one scene that had me a bit confused.(less)
