I have seen the movie and the screen presentation left out all the good details one gets from this series but it did create a scary creature. Mybwun. The book does mention Whittlesey in the epilogue which s a lead into the next novel, but the reference is conjecture by Eric. (less)

This is my first Douglas Preston book, is the Relic meant to be taken seriously, or is it self aware? The writing is edging on so bad it's good, with character names like Smithbag (shitbag). Am I reading the equivalent of a Troma film or Tommy Wiseau?

Also, this is a composite work of the two authors, which has a different pattern of writing from the individual works of each of the authors. The only link to any of Douglas Preston's books is Tyrannosaur Canyon. Douglas Preston is the explorer of many sites which he writes about. I believe he's the one who worked at the Museum of Natural History.(less)

I am always up for a really good series, as I'm sure this one is. The Movie version of The Relic is one of my favorite movies, of which I watch again and again.. Will reading the book ruin the movie for me?

Elsa If you liked the movie, you will definitely like the book. I watched the movie as a kid and I loved the book and the characters in it. =)

Would anyone know if Scott Brick ever recorded this as an audiobook? Scott does such a wonderful job at the other in the series.
