Gmaharriet This is the 5th of a 7-part Will Trent series, but there are 6 books in the Grant County series that precede it. If you read the Will Trent series first, you will see spoilers that you won't want to know for reading the Grant County series. All the books in both series are fantastic, so I'd recommend you start with Grant County's "Blindsighted", the 1st in that series. (less)

If I haven't read the rest of the Will Trent series, can this book act as a standalone or will I be completely lost?

Brian Kuhl Hi Tara. Just read it and was good. But like you I have not read the earlier books in the series so was a little frustrated re being unaware of the baâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðHi Tara. Just read it and was good. But like you I have not read the earlier books in the series so was a little frustrated re being unaware of the back stories of Will Trent and several of the other characters. Time over I would go back and start from book 1.. I saw another review which suggests it's even better to read the Grant County series first. I have read the prior Will Trent Books and Grant Co. Books. It seems to me, Faith's son has not aged and I am confused about that. By the time we get to Fallen shouldn't he be in his 20's?
