1)I will start with Mason! I really liked Mason, he was so good! He was so in love with Rose but I think Rose did a terrible mistake to start dating with Mason since she is in love with Dimitri! She loved Mason as a friend though! I felt bad for him because he didn't have a clue about her true feelings and he died not knowing them! Oh my god I cried so hard when I read it! He died to protect Rose!
2)Ohh, Dimitri! Finally, he admits his feelings but still they are not together! That breaks my heart! I loved that she became jealous of Tasha Ozera who was in love with Dimitri and she asked him to be her Guardian but Dimitri refused!
"She was, you know, into you. . . .� The ghost of a smile flickered on his face.
“Yes, she was. Is. And that’s why I had to say no. I couldn’t return that . . . couldn’t give her what she wanted. Not when . . .� He took a few steps toward me. “Not when my heart is somewhere else.�
And I also loved that Dimitri was jealous of Adrian, even though she was dating Mason! WTF?

FINALLY!! ADRIAN IVASHKOV! Even though I love Dimitri and I think he is the best match for Rose! Adrian is my book boyfriend! I love him! He is gorgeous and a little bit crazy! What can I say I like crazy guys!

"Well," he said cheerfully, "since I'm both a psychopath and a guy, that would explain why we're such good friends.�
From the beggining, Adrian shows his interest about Rose but she had a "boyfriend". Even Adrian understood that she loved Dimitri but Mason and Lissa didn't have a clue!
He was acting crazy all the time and the reason was so obvious! He is SPIRIT USER like Lissa! He is also buy her at least thirty bottles of perfume into a box!Who does that? He is amazing!
4)I loved the relationship between Christian and Lissa! Even though Rose didn't love it because she was forced to see them making out! I laughed so hard in that scene!
5)I loved Janine Hathaway! She is like Rose! I understand the reasons that Rose felt angry about her mother but I understand and her mother! I loved that they build their relationship!
6)After the death of Mia's mother, I finally liked her! Even though, she and Mason became obsessed with hunting Strigoi! I loved when Mia helped Rose with her magic to kill Isaiah and Elena!
7)I also loved when Christian and Rose helped her with the plan to escape! They are really great team!!Together they are unstoppable!
8)My poor Eddie! Mia and Mason convinced him to sneak out of the ski lodge to Spokane to hunt Strigoi. They drunk from him and he lost his best friend!!
9)I will admit that I really liked Tasha in that book! I liked her character and I liked her opinions about Moroi could fight with their magic beside dhampirs! Because I have read the series, when I read this time about Tasha I was like "not that bitch again".

Just finished reading it yesterday.
I don't know why. It just made me cry. It was one one of the books that you just look back and see how much a character has grown, how much she has learnt.
Her giving up Dimitri and saying she wants him to be happy was very touching that I just cried.
Rose at book 1 was really looking for trouble. She was a risk-taker, and she pretty much broke the rules. In book 2, Rose was selfish, and she sort of used Mason. In the end, she decided that she didn't love him, and realized doing that was only going to hurt them more. She realized that love could not be forced. -Which pretty much said that she understood what love is, showing her growth from book 1.
Ironically, Rose was the one who scolded her classmates for breaking the rules, while on book 1, she broke the rules herself.
She was a very quick learner, and she understood that she couldn't take on the Strigoi easily, not like she has previously assumed. In the end, she killed two.
What I love about Vampire Academy books is that they are deep. It shows a person a lot: how you could find the strength in weakness, courage in fear, surviving in suffering, love from misunderstanding, and truth in lies.

Oh wow. Honestly, did not expect to enjoy it this much. If I had more time, I would have binged it in hours. But I truly had a good time with this. When I wasn't reading, I was thinking about it. That's how you know a book is GOOD 🤌🤌
This was surely better than the first book, in terms of character development, plot, relationship developments and action wise. It still reads like a 2000s YA book but am not gonna complain about that cause it's obviously on me 😂🙈
I mostly had issues with Rose in the last book but I was seriously impressed by her in this book. She clearly has matured and isn't being a controlling friend to Lissa. Tbf as much as Dimitri tried to reason with her regarding her mom, I kinda agree with Rose. She can't just forgive and forget, it doesn't work that way 🤷♀�
I liked Adrian A LOT. He made up for when I missed Dimitri. His dream walking or spirit thing or whatever it's called captured my interest. Despite his drunken self, he seems charming enough. Looking forward to getting to know him more.
Lissa was disappointing. Idk what she did in this book? Except make out with Christian, socialise a bit? Idk her purpose. This book will be the exact same way, if you took out her scenes. She had nothing to contribute and it pissed me off cause I saw so much potential in her last book.
Christian is still interesting to me. I loved how him and Rose worked together towards the end. I like their banter. Dimitri was interesting too, but I NEED MORE OF HIM 😩😩😩 Man's got like 20 dialogues and that's not enough for me. Gimme moreeeeeee 👀 Also, that whole drama with Tasha had me annoyed a bit ngl.
The ending was hands down the best part of the book. Had the last 70 pages not happened, it would have been a three star read. But am gonna assume with the way things turned out, the plot will take a darker turn and mature a lot. Also let me point out, it was a bad idea to read the ending while doing skin care cause I bawled my eyes out and well... I wasted away a face mask 🥲
Am so looking forward to reading the next book in the series soon 🤩🤩

Frostbite is a vampire novel, written by Richelle Mead. It is the second novel in the Vampire Academy series.
Frostbite continues the story of the main character, Rose Hathaway including her bond with Princess Vasilisa "Lissa" Dragomir, her budding romance with her instructor Dimitri Belikov, and her education in becoming a Guardian. Oh dear... I seem to be ever so slightly... hooked. How did this happen? I was proceeding with caution, I swear I was but... my god, this book was good. I liked it even better than the first one in this series, I honestly have nothing but praise for this book. I shall of course have to accept my fate when they start to go downhill, but there's always a chance that by then my obsession will have ran so deep that I won't even care in my lust to find out what happens to Rose and Lissa and Dimitri.
I loved loved loved the relationship between Rose and her mother in this novel. The similarities between them that they are both too stubborn to see and the wonderful mutual understanding between them at the end. Also, Dimitri was so much better in this book. I thought he was a bit of a douche in the last one but I'm now starting to see the attraction - just wish he would have dropped his moral values earlier on, hehe. On that subject, I really do love how Richelle Mead manages to make a young adult novel incredibly steamy with lots of hot make-out sessions and dirty thoughts. Young adult romantic relationships are often so tame but not here :)
By the way, Rose is now officially one of my favourite heroines ever. She kicks ass and gets it on with hot men - woo!

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. This books picks up shortly after the first book in the series. Rose is still in training with Dimitri and feelings run strong between the two but cannot be acted upon, with both of them being Lissa's (a Moroi princess and Rose's best friend) future guardians. There are some attacks on the Moroi royal families. This sends fear of what should be done to stop the Strigoi. Some feel it is time for the Moroi to fight beside their guardians and learn offensive magic, whilst others believe its not their place to fight. While the adults argue, some of the students sneak away to deal with the threat themselves.
The thought process of Rose is easy to be sympathetic with and believable. The characters are great and very individual to themselves. It was interesting to start to see a different side to Mia and also to finally meet Rose's mother. I continue to enjoy the vampire hierarchy in this book, combined with the differences of Strigoi, vdampir, and Moroi. I like how Rose handles some tragedies that occur in this. I am excited to continue with this series. It has definitely exceeded expectations.

Ágil, dinámico y como siempre, entretenido.
Siento que Sangre fría sufre el síndrome de los segundos libros de sagas de hace una década, donde estos eran un poco más flojos casi siempre, y lo que hacían era avanzar románticamente y sembrar la semilla de nuevas tramas para el resto de la saga. Eso es justamente lo que tenemos en esta segunda entrega de Vampire Academy, aderezado quizá con alguna otra subtrama no demasiado importante.
Estoy muy contento de haber vuelto a releerlo, me acordaba muy muy poquito de lo que sucedía. Seguimos con la misma Rose con un par, aunque en esta ocasión más hecha un lío que otra cosa, y sobre todo, aprenderemos más sobre su madre y los strigoi en general. Creo que una vez leído esta secuela, todos los elementos principales están presentados (moroi y dhampir en el primero, strigoi en el segundo).
La trama que más me interesó en el primero, que era todo el tema del espíritu y misterios del pasado con vampiros con poderes extraños, no se desarrolla tanto en este segundo volumen. Es curioso, pero es como si esa trama se pusiera en pausa hasta el final del libro, donde podemos ver hacia qué dirección irá la historia. Sin embargo, como dije al principio, es una entrega más centrada en desarrollar los romances de Rose (que no puedo más con Dimka POR DIOS) y su personalidad. Además, creo que el final respecto a ella es de lo mejorcito, no me lo esperaba en absoluto y va a dar muchísimo juego en siguientes entregas.
ղé conocemos a nuevos personajes como Adrian –que enamora desde el primer minuto, es misterioso, atractivo y nos va a traer problemas, pero me encanta� , o podemos ahondar más en otros ya conocidos como Mason y Mia, la cual creo que se terminará convirtiendo en una de mis favoritas. Siempre me pasa cuando tenemos a chicas populares con arcos de redención, son mi debilidad.
Vampire Academy es una saga llena de acción donde no dejan de suceder cosas y que no puedes evitar devorar. Me encanta el estilo de Richelle Mead, tiene una de las mejores protagonistas de libros juveniles y además, tenemos vampiros. ¿Qué más se puede pedir? Deseando leer el tercero.

The first book in this series left me feeling a big Meh. It’s confusing, nonsensical premise was distracting, though I felt in some ways it managed to distract from what was essentially a weak plot and simple story.
The same can not be said for Frostbite. The lore of Vampire Academy hasn’t changed but the complexities and further insight, or perhaps just familiarity have lessoned the ache of it. Something is happening to me.

The me I know would never enjoy a book with a love triangle AND a love square. Let alone giving three (well, two and a half) stars to said book, which also includes vampires, high school drama, and something that veers precariously close to girl hate.
But here we are.
I like the Vampire Academy books.
Book one was good. And guess what. So is this one (kind of?). Although definitely worse.
I, as I ashamedly admitted in my Vampire Academy review, love Rose, the sassy, badass, maybe anti-feminist protagonist. I also, even more ashamedly, admitted to loving Dimitri, the Russian trainer love interest who is a decade her senior and - even worse - literally always wearing the dumbest coat in the world. 4 Life Lessons Stars
Spoilers This isn't really a review Per se but more of a run down of what happen in this book.
Frostbite picked up right after book one. Rose and Dimitri were fighting their feelings for each other and tried to move on with other people. Which I didn't like at all. Rose kinda started dating Mason where they shared a few kisses. I really loved Mason. I didn't want him to get used as a stand in and that was pretty much what happens. Dimitri got friendly with Tasha who offered Dimitri to be her guardian and the chance of having children with her. Every time Dimitri smiled or laughed with Tasha it felt like a knife to my heart and I wanted to end her. Both Rose and Dimitri failed at getting over their feelings. The sexual tension between Rose and Dimitri just kept building in this book. At the end they kissed and I believe it was a tipping point for them. Lissa was dealing with her spirit magic and the meds she took to keep her from getting depressed and hurting herself. The meds block her magic and it hurts her to not be able to use it. Lissa and Christian made love for the first time.
We readers met Janine(Rose's mom) in this book. There was a lot of mama drama, as Janine wasn't a very good mother, but she does love Rose. We also got introduced to Adrian in this book. He was another spirit magic user and I really liked him. For the most part Rose did some real growing up in this book and tried to stay out of trouble. Mason, Eddie, Mia on the other hand ran off half cocked trying to kill Strigoi. Rose and Christian went after them and Mason ended up getting killed. I loved Mason and was so sad when poor Mason got killed. It really bugged me that he loved Rose and she just liked him as a friend and tried to use him to get over her real love. Not that I don't understand that Rose was trying to give him a chance because he was a great guy and really liked her but I felt he got the short end of the stick. Rose ended up losing her shit seeing Mason killed and ended up killing the two Strigoi that held them captive. I loved that Rose's mom was really there for her after she made her first kill and lost her friend. Overall a good read but I want Rose and Dimitri together already dammit!

The blurb says: Mason would die to be with Rose...
Well that's just silly. If you die to be with someone, you wouldn't be able to be with them, cause you'd be dead! Plus, like everything else in this book, that's such a melodramatic statement.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what the big deal over this series is. It’s recommended all over the place, the star average for this is really good, and it’s really popular � maybe I got my hopes up too high? I read the first one, was indifferent to it, and then I heard about this series everywhere. It was a series that got better as it went along. There was character development. The heroine was multi-dimensional. Good, strong romance. Interesting characters. So, after a year, I picked up the second one to see if I had missed something and ... eh.
On one hand, I do see some positives, like the vampire lore. Most paranormal teen books are painfully simplistic, and I’m glad to say this book does have some world building going on here. I know nothing of vampires, so when I was researching fictional creatures and came across the types of vampires that were in these books, I was quite impressed. Using real mythology to work in your story and giving your own twist on it in a modern setting? Not bad, Mead. If I’m being painfully honest, I thought she just made those words (Strigoi/Dhampir etc) up completely. But hey, come on, some authors don’t even know what happens to vampires when they walk into the sun, not naming any names.
And .... that’s pretty much what I liked.
I have to laugh when I hear the characters of Vampire Academy being called complex or “deep� � I mean really. Come on. I get what the attraction to Rose is � big mouthed, outgoing, snarky � the exact opposite of the whiny dish mop YA heroines we’re used to, amirite? No, let’s instead make her ANOTHER stereotype and now she’s oh-so-original! Don’t actually bother to make her a three dimensional character, that would be SO MUCH WORK. Just make her the exact opposite of the dish mop heroine, and teens will totally fall for it because she’s so speshul and different � except they DO fall for it! URGH. Rose is just so exaggerated I don’t even really hate her; there’s not enough of her to feel much of anything for. She’s just too obnoxious, too loud, too self-absorbed to really be taken seriously. And to top it off, she’s kind of an idiot. This girl is some kind of guardian for a PRINCESS and she’s about as slow as a heard of turtles racing through peanut butter. Mead has a hard time planning surprises well, because nothing comes off nearly as shocking as it is intended because any semi-discerning reader is smarter than Rose. The secondary characters are all right I guess � I like the witty remarks and all, although none of them make me laugh out loud. Still, it’s nice to have a group of teenagers speaking like teenagers for a change without quoting Latin and Shakespeare. Except Dmitri, who’s about as fun as watching “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button� without a bathroom break.
Speaking of which, this series is soooo predictable. Can someone please tell me why all teen authors do this? I wouldn’t mind a love triangle, I really wouldn’t, if there was actually a point or at the very least a surprise along the way. If we have three interesting, complex characters, and you like all three of them, then a love triangle can make you ache for them. If you have a hard time choosing between the two boys (or girls, I suppose, but you never see a girl-boy-girl love triangle) then that’s a sign you did it RIGHT. If you don’t know who the girl is going to pick because both boys are so awesome and she sincerely loves them both, then you’re doing it right. WHY DOES NO AUTHOR EVEN ATTEMPT TO DO THIS? Answer: because that would actually require some tough decision making.
How do YA authors REALLY write love triangles? You’ve got the main girl, the soul mate, and the poor other guy who you know is going to either end up miserable and alone, dead, or hooking up with some secondary character you barely even remember the name of by the end. I haven’t even read the rest of the series and I don’t have to � I KNOW Rose will end up with Dmitri. I know it the way I knew Bella would end up with Edward, Clary would end up with Jace, Ever would end up with Damen, Luce would end up with Daniel, Tessa with Will , Donna with Xan ... just a few off the top of my head (some of these series aren’t done and I have no intention on reading them, but trust me, I KNOW � I HAVE NEVER BEEN WRONG YET). Even the Hunger Games, which on most days I think is a good series, was painfully obvious with the love triangle � did Gale ever really have a chance? The author can never help but hinting at who her favourite is, and when you know who the favourite is, you’ve got who the girl will end up with. When you know who ends up together, it’s boring. It makes the angst pointless and annoying to read because you know everything is going to end up alright. She’ll end up with the lame, mysterious, brooding guy, because she always does. Screw the guy with a personality and sense of humour.
(Sidenote: Have you noticed the readers always seem to like the underdog guy? I wonder why that is. Maybe the author is so busy trying to make everyone love the brooding guy, and she isn’t trying to make the other guy swoon-worthy, that his personality comes out easier. Because Brooding Guy never seems to have a personality.)
The writing is terrible by the way. I know, I know, it’s written in the narration of a rather dimwitted teenage girl, but it’s still irritating. The prologue, explaining the story so far was so corny I was grimacing the whole way through. It gets a bit better after that but everything is explained � unfortunately � through Rose, so naturally, it’s all telling, no showing, explaining the most obvious things, the vocabulary never extending past that of a sixth grader and ruining sentimental moments with cheesy, misplaced comments only a stupid teenage girl would say.
Look, it’s not the worst book in the world (silly, “Marked� is!) but I can’t slog through what, four more of these? I know what’s going to happen in the end, so I don’t see much of a point in going through hackneyed, predictable trials of these bland characters when I KNOW. Will Rose and her mother reconnect? Will Rose's father be revealed? Will Lissa end up a powerful royal? Which boy will Rose end up with? Will good conquer over darkness?

Holy Cow!!! I love this story and it truly gets better every time I read it. Witch if I'm being honest it has been many many times. Richelle Mead has this way of drawing you in with every single word. The writing style, the world, the characters, everything is just so fantastic! Truly...
I have read a lot of books and Rose has to be my all-time favorite heroine. She is just so awesome, even with all her flaws... Rose can be implosive and bitchy. In this second book she experiences some jealousy and resentment! Rose was raised to believe the Moroi always come 1st. Always above all else!! Even yourself.

Rose is one of those "I tend to punch first and then find out who I actually hit later." kinda girls. Sure she makes mistakes but that's a part of growing up. I love watching her character grow in every book.

My review of Vampire Academy.
If you’ve been following my reviews for a while you probably would have noticed that I rarely reread books. I’m not the fastest reader so I’d usually rather read new books than reread ones that I’ve already experienced. However, with the Vampire Academy novels I had no trouble rereading the first two books because they’re just so addicting that you can’t help but fly through them even if you don’t have much time.
What I Liked:
� More Dimitri! Yay!
You can never go wrong with more Dmitri. I ship him with Rose so hard, you guys have no idea.
I feel like their relationship started getting a little more serious in this book, even though they both know that they shouldn’t be together aghh. There’s something about forbidden love that makes me go all sorts of mushy
�Adrian :
We get to meet Adrian in this book and I’m assuming that he’s going to play a major role in the next books because he seems to be everyone’s favorite character for some reason that I can’t wait to find out.
I’m still team Dimitri though (for now) but hey anything could happen.
�The humor :
The humor in these books is just on point. The jokes and smart ass replies crack me up so bad every single time haha

�Stupid Characters :
There were a few situations where the characters were facing a problem and the solution was just right there under their noses and they kept acting like it wasn’t obvious at all. I just wanted to smack them on the head with the book.
Overall, it was a very good sequel to the series. I’m going to jump right into the third one which I haven’t read before so it should be interesting :D

Oh... my... God! Holy...I am freaking out! This is the second installment in the Vampire Academy series. Are you kidding me?! This book looks like the last book in the series! Gosh, what will happen in the other four books? I loved this book, it was so entertaining and amazing.
Might have spoilers:
Rose has become sightly an adult and now she realizes her mistakes and her relationships with many people increased. I always liked Rose because she is a strong kick-ass heroine and can handle anything. Well, she has to. I loved her in this book like hell. I loved how she hooked up with Mason in the beginning, Oh man...I don't want to cry,fuck!, and Dimitri in the end.
Mason, :'( why? WHY? I always loved you! You were awesome! You didn't have to die! Because of you, I freaking cried while reading the rest of the book, and I am still crying because, GOSH! I loved you.
While Fighting:
Get out!" Rose screamed. He was still in the sun, still safe.
ME: Get out! Please!
But he didn't listen to me. He ran toward us, out of his protective light. I redoubled my struggles, hoping I'd pull Isaiah's attention away from Mason. I didn't. Isaiah shoved me into Elena before Mason was halfway to us. Swiftly, Isaiah blocked and seized hold of Mason, exactly as he'd done to me earlier.
ME: NOOOOOOOOO! *Horror struck!*
Only, unlike with me, Isaiah didn't restrain Mason's arms. He didn't jerk Mason upright by the hair or make long, rambling threats about an agonizing death. Isaiah simply stopped the attack, grabbed Mason's head with both hands, and gave a quick twist. There was a sickening crack. Mason's eyes went wide. Then they went blank.
ME: What? WHAT?Fuck! NO! :'(
He hurt his ankle skiing, went to kill Strigoi, got kidnapped By Strigoi, got killed trying to save Rose Hathaway. RIP Mason. I will always remember you.
Moving on, Lissa wasn't in this story at all, which was okay because I don't like her at all. Even if shes calm and peaceful and wonderful, I still love Rose. Christian is much better then Lissa. I really like him. Atleast he can fight! =D
Dimitri, WTF?! It was all your fault! If you had declined being a guardian for Tasha in the beginning, Rose wouldn't have gone for Mason and then Mason wouldn't have known about the secret, And you told her, even when you knew she has a freaking open mouth, then Mason would have never sacrificed for Rose. And in the end, you kissed her and said, "I am back?"......All I could say is... Go die in hell! >.<

I felt like the second installment was better from the first since because unlike the first one, the story is less like Gossip Girl and more about surviving in this world and well the plot kind of improved in my opinion. The Rose I knew at Vampire Academy (book 1) kept having troubles. She was a risk-taker, and she pretty much broke the rules. In this book, She started liking Mason. But In the end, because of Dimitri (hate him like hell), she decided that she didn't love him, and realized doing that was only going to hurt them more. She realized that love could not be forced. She understood what love is. We also meet a new Character Adrian, who is like Lissa, Spirit thingy and all. This is a satisfying sequel and I would love to read the next book. Overall, I loved this book. Kept reading this book non-stop and I will give this book, 4.5/5 stars :D

This is a satisfying sequel, because the thing is, Richelle Mead could have gone very obvious with Rose. It would have been easy street, and would have probably still worked, as Rose threw in a quip here and there, kicked some ass, got in trouble, got saved, learned her lesson and then got the boy.
Bada Bing. Bada Boom.
And while Rose may do all those things, she does them in her own way and her own time and becomes a fully fleshed girl whose mistakes you might cringe at but you understand. That's Rose. So watching her grow, learn and change is an absolute pleasure. Everything about her you believe, whether she drives you crazy or not, you believe because she becomes that real to you.
That being said, this is another great entry to the Vampire Academy world. Lissa and Christian's relationship is another thing I love about the series, seeing two social opposites navigate a relationship. Christian Ozera is an outsider to the Royal Moroi world even though his last name sits amongst the ranks. In this story we get to see that Christian is just as much of a hero as his dhampir counterparts, and that he can hold his own on the smartass train.
Speaking of said train, this is the book where we meet Adrian Ivashkov. Standing amongst a cloud of clove smoke with a charmer's grin, Adrian brings the devil-may-care attitude to this group of teenagers that have had to grow up way too fast. Adrian pulls out all the stops with his Rose flirtations, seeing things brewing between the characters that the others can't, which adds a bit of mystery to who exactly this guy with the perfectly mussed hair is and what exactly he's going to bring to the party. Because, without a doubt, if Adrian is around there is a party not too far behind him.
Then there's my Dimitri Belikov. Who apparently also goes by Dimka. Stop stealing our heart already. Okay, i'm lying, don't you ever stop. After the end of Vampire Academy we know the feelings Dimitri is battling when it comes to Rose, which makes their interactions that much more intense and delicious. Tasha Ozera, Christian's bold aunt, is now also on the playing field as a Strigoi attack brings everyone together at a ski resort for the winter holiday, inviting a whole host of characters into the academy world. Like an unexpected family member that is going to bring the fight right out of Rose.
The stakes (excuse the pun) are even higher in this go 'round, because this fight is even more lethal than anything Victor Dashkov gave. Rose and her friends working together against a common creepy-as-hell enemy gives us our first glimpse into what these kids can do and what they've learned from the academy. Christian will surprise you. Mason will break your heart. Dimitri will steal it. Other characters will shock you, but it's fierce and it's awesome and will give you a paper cut if you're not careful.

THAT ENDINGGGGGG!! I loved it so much, and I cried, like a lot.. So the last 70 pages were really good, but I didn’t really like the beginning of this book. The plot was so slow and I didn’t like the whole ski trip thing.I did like some of the new characters and Rose was amazing in this book as well. Although I wanted some new world building and some more tension in the middle of this book.

Start of the book (4 stars)
The first 50 pages or so I really enjoyed this book. I was so happy to be back in Rose’s snarky head. I really enjoyed reading about her life after all that’s happened in the previous book. I found the tense situation when the .. family was murdered super creepy and fun to read and I flew through the book. However the book started to get quite monotonous after a while. It was just much of the same with mostly Rose being on practice or on campus. Just her ordinary life and I was getting quite tired of this when it took over 100 pages.
The writing style (3,5 stars)
The writing style was pleasant to read only it was nothing special. I like being in Rose’s head and reading about her snarky opinions and sarcastic sneers. I love the humor that’s mixed in, also in serious situations. Only sometimes I wanted more from the world and I didn’t get that from Rose’s perspective. I also still feel like this book is meant for younger (teenage) readers, Rose is struggling with her identity, sex, friendship etc. a lot. And this wasn’t something why I was reading this book, so I found these chapters a bit too long. I also want to comment on the repetitive writing style. The amount of times Rose gets called young in this book was over the thirty!! I know it the first three times! But also repetitive from the first book, I’ve just read it so I didn’t need to know every detail from book one.

The world building (3,5 stars)
The world didn’t really expand from book one. Now we had this resort where they were prisoners in and in the first installment it was the academy. While we did get a bit more inside in the royal families and a bit more about Stragoi and about fighting, I found this not enough new information for a second in a series. I did like to finally the Stragoi and seeing what they are capable off but the world building was rather dull in this book and I didn’t care at all about this ski trip/resort thing. I do still really like the whole Vampire Academy concept with Stragoi, Moroi and Dhampirs and think it is super original.
Characters (3,5 stars)
“Not into older guys, huh?" asked Adrian once we were alone.
"You're imagining things," I said. "Clearly, my stunning beauty has clouded your mind.�
Don't get me wrong I love a main character with confidence and it was super refreshing and something else from every winey ya book, but Rose did get a bit on the arrogant side sometimes. I didn’t mind it but I hope she calms a bit down. I did like how smart, brave and stubborn Rose could be. I loved her in the scene in Spokane and I found her breaking down super realistic (cried a lot)
I hated Lissa even more in this book, I hated how she was unable to help Rose, how she never tried anything, how she dropped Rose for Christian. The only thing I liked was the idea how to train the Moroi magic.
I did like Christian in this book. The scene in the cellar he was super brave and he helped a lot.
I also did like Mason, but I hate the decision he made to go and save Rose. I mostly felt sorry for him during this book because Rose didn’t really like him.
I also liked Adrian, he was super mysterious and I really liked that he is also a spirit user and his powers are cool.
Tasha was also one of my favorites in this book. I love her background story about the Stragoi attack with Christian’s parents and her wearing that scar so proudly. I love for her standing up for using Moroi magic and teaching some of the kids how to use them in secrets.
I didn’t like Dimitri in this book, he was really one dimensional and on the back ground.
I loved Rose’s mother (bawled my eyes out with that scene after the Stragoi attack, when she comforts Rose). I love her history and am curious about the rest of it.
So I did start to like Mia a lot more during this book, I loved that in the beginning of this book I hated her but her mom dying, her going to Spokane and her wanting to fight with her magic actually gave me respect for her. I love that she came back to safe Rose with her magic even though Rose told her water magic was useless.
If I think back on this I find all the characters quite one dimensional. They lack history and a backbone. And I maybe wanted a bit more new characters, especially in the beginning of this book.

Romance (2,5 stars)
I hate the thought Rose has like well okay I can't get the guy I want so how about I take my best friend instead and try with Mason. Like Hell that's not how it works girl.. And then Mason goes and sacrifices himself for Rose and I felt so bad because she didn’t even like him like that. So mad about this. I also didn’t feel the ending with Rose and Demitri, like oh you killed two Stragoi, now your worthy of me. I just didn’t feel it between them.
Super annoyed how Lissa behaved with Christian. What the Hell is wrong with people! Just dropping your best friend when you get a boyfriend. I could relate so much with Rose’s jealousy, but I HATED Lissa for not realizing what she was doing.
Plot (3,0 stars)
This book suffered majorly from second book syndrome, it’s not even funny. I mean the beginning this book was fun because I love reading from Rose's perspective and I found what happened with that family interesting. But after a while I just got so bored with the plot. NOTHING HAPPENED. Rose just had her ordinary day, with training, joking with Mason, being Jealous of Christian who takes up all Lissa's time, being annoyed by Tasha (which I found really unfair). It was just so boring, and I took so much time reading this book. And then this ski trip happened and well that was just so random. I didn't expect that at all. It lacking new world building, it lacked tension, it lacked new characters. It was just really blend.
It took so long for the plot to become remotely interesting that I almost gave up on this book. So on the ski trip, (halfway in the book) they find out another Stragoi attack had happened and that even more Stragoi and humans had fought together in this slaughter. So this frightens a lot of Moroi and Dampirs, and they organize this meeting where they come up with ridiculous ideas about how to fight this group of Stragoi. But then Tasha speaks up. And I absolutely love her for this, she thinks the Moroi should fight besides the Dampirs and use their magic. I was so proud of Tasha and I agree fully with her. So everyone goes off on her and this huge discussion breaks out. Then more Dimitri and Rose drama happens. So then this Arthur guy shows up again and he invites Rose and her friends to a party. So they go to this spa and Rose gets drunk. And then this random fight breaks out about the opinion Tasha just stated. And of course Rose is in the middle of this. So after Mason saves her, she ends up with Lissa and Adrian in this lounge and something strange happens between Lissa and Adrian which I was soooo curious about! But Christian shows up and they leave this weird spa party.
So then after Mason and Rose have a fight he appears to be gone when Rose searches for him. And then she realized what a mistake it was telling him about Spokane (Stragoi were hiding there). So Mia, guy I didn’t know or cared about and forgot his name and Mason are gone. Rose decides to take Christian to get them out of the resort and find the others. I found these decisions from every person super stupid. I hated that they got lost, doesn’t anyone know how the ask the way to the station or to read a map or have a phone? So annoying. So these humans kidnap them and bring them to Elena and Isaiah, who is super old and likes to play games.

From this point I started to really like the plot. I loved the tense situation and it never got boring, I just wanted to read and know if they would survive! I loved every single character’s behavior and found the decision making super cleaver. I loved how they escape although it was really predictable, but I didn’t expect the Stragoi to find out and actually killing Mason. I was in the train reading the chapter and I bawled my eyes out. I loved how this was all unfolding and for it to be casualties even though I loved Mason I never would have accepted them all surviving. It was so realistic how Rose got in shock and how she responded the days after. The last 70 pages were the best of this book!

The ending (4,5 stars)
After Rose gets a bit out of shock she receives her molnija, I was really proud of her and how she responded to the whole situation. The only thing I didn’t like was the Dimitri situation, I just don’t like it and I don’t know why..
I’m excited for the next book but I hope the plot is a bit faster in the beginning and a few new characters are introduced.

A lot of people don't like this Vampire Academy book as much, but it's one of my favorites. There are breath-taking battle sequences at the end, and a devastating aftermath that leaves Rose forever changed. My respect for her grew leaps and bounds in this book, and the series really kicked into high gear both in story and in emotion.

No matter how many times Dimitri tries to push Rose away and make it clear that they can never happen, she can't stop falling more and more in love with him.
Things will get only more complicated when Tasha Ozera shows up and offers Dimitri a job as her personal guardian.
It is clear that she also has feelings for Dimitri and Rose now fears that she will lose Dimitri forever.
This was my 2nd time reading this book and God help me... I loved it even more the second time around.
There is alot of Rose/Dimitri drama in this book.
Jealousy, fighting, Dimitri finally accepting his feelings for Rose and understanding that they won't go away.
Rose beeing a kickass.
Some Rose/Christian scence and cooperation which I always love.
Alot of crying.
And most importantly.... This is the first book that Adrian makes an appearance...

I didn't think that this series could get any better than the first one but I was wrong. I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait for the next one.
There was action but that wasn't my main reason for liking Frostbite. Rose was changing so much during the book. One way was her relationship with her mom. Rose had been hating her mom but as I was reading, I was starting to see how similar they are to each other and I was so glad about the ending that they had. Rose and Dimitri was another favorite part of this book. Why couldn't they just get together? I liked him in the second book better than the first which was surprising but I'm very glad about that. I just wish that he would have that realization at the beginning of the book. Richelle Mead really does know how to write a good YA book that is so different yet better than others in this genre.
There were also some sadder parts. Frostbite seemed to be more serious than the first one which was different but I did like it. The ending was amazing and the sad parts just made it better.
Rose Hathaway might be my favorite YA heroine and in this book, she got even more brave and powerful.
Overall, everything in this book was better. I hope that this trend will continue in the next book.

This is the book where we get introduced to the infamous Adrian that I have heard so much of from VA fans. He certainly didn't disappoint. He did leave me with one problem though! I don't know if I'm team Adrian or Team Dimitri! TOO MANY HARD CHOICES!
Frostbitewas faster-paced than the first story and I appreciate that. Lots more action and much more intense. Rose was still a brat and I found myself wanting to slap her from time to time but I still really love the character deep down. I feel she grew up a tiny bit by the end of the book. Not great, huge leaps or anything. Just enough to give me a little faith that she might grow more in the books to come. I have mixed feelings on Lissa. Rose basically gives her life for that girl and Lissa seems to be fairly entitled about the whole thing. I don't really think she completely appreciates what Rose does for her. She kind of dumped her at times for Christian. I understand that teens do that sort of thing all the times and humans are selfish. I guess that could all be argued but it still irked me. Christian is still a great character and it would take a lot for me to hate this guy. I really want more of his story to come out. I love that Christian is snarky and dark. I hope we get more development with his character than just being Lissa's boyfriend and outcast at school.

He was actually a good guy, so obviously she didn't want to be a part of that nonsense *eyeroll* It was cool to see her take down two Strigio and get her first marks for killing them. I love the idea of the markings, very cool. The more and more they go into the lore in this story, the more I become hooked.
Also, finally let's talk about the relationship with Dimitri and Rose finally starting to budge. Yes, it's a bit of a turtle pace but I guess they have to build up the excitement. I better see some something more between them next book though!
The storyline with her mother pretty good. I liked that her mom didn't spend the whole time trying to make it up to her. It felt a little more authentic to the character and why she made the decisions she did with Rose. Overall, it was pretty well done.
I have never read Twilight so I can't compare them but if you like vampires, teen drama and lots of action check this one out. I think things are going to get very badass in the next book!

The storyline with her mother pretty good. I liked that her mom didn't spend the whole time trying to make it up to her. It felt a little more authentic to the character and why she made the decisions she did with Rose. Overall, it was pretty well done.
I have never read Twilight so I can't compare them but if you like vampires, teen drama and lots of action check this one out. I think things are going to get very badass in the next book!
