The Kidnapping/Missing Person Plot
If you have been kidnapped, or know someone who was, apologies. But it seems like FAR too many authors over-use this....I created a list on Amazon, where I do a lot of browsing (while still supporting real bookstores) and already have 22 books on the list with some version of this hackneyed plot.
