Detective stores have never been my favorite genre but when they are wrapped in period detail like the Cadfael Mysteries or the Poirot mysteries I find them more interesting.
It's perhaps that lack of an historical appeal that has caused me to leave Miss Marple until now.
Still, the stories are engaging and well told and they do have a certain appeal. In this case Miss Marple's analysis of the commonality of people made the story well worth the reading time.

Was curious about how Stephanie Cole did this one.
She's not Joan Hickson but she's a great voice actress. She does great with the narration and voices about a score of the disparate characters in reasonable & readily discernible voices that add to the depth and richness of the written characterizations. Her dialects are particularly good in re-enforcing Henry Higgin's assertions about spoken British instantly identifying the class & origins of any Englishman as soon as they open their mouths.
