That said, this particular list isn’t aiming to catalog every symbolic use of Satan - it’s focused on adversarial thought in relation to systems of power, moral scapegoating, and broader cultural constructs. Faxneld’s book is valuable, but its scope is very specific to gender and feminist symbolism, which isn't the central focus of this collection. Still worth checking out if that angle resonates with you.

Another one that's been suggested - it’s broad in scope and valuable as a reference, but because it’s a reader, it’s more fragmented than focused. This list is more curated around a specific through-line of adversarial thought, Romanticism, and cultural fear, while this book casts a wider net. Still a great academic collection and worth exploring if you want a broader overview of the field.

The Devil's Party: Satanism in Modernity

Another suggestion - a lot of its content overlaps with what’s already in the collection through The Invention of Satanism and Speak of the Devil. This one leans more into case studies and institutional structure, while this list is more about symbolic and cultural meaning. Great book - just a little too close in scope to what’s already covered.
