A lot of folks have suggested Satanic Feminism by Per Faxneld. I agree that it’s a solid academic work - it explores how 19th-century writers used Satan as a symbol of female liberation, which is fascinating. That said, this particular list isn’t aiming to catalog every symbolic use of Satan - it’s focused on adversarial thought in relation to systems of power, moral scapegoating, and broader cultural constructs. Faxneld’s book is valuable, but its scope is very specific to gender and feminist symbolism, which isn't the central focus of this collection. Still worth checking out if that angle resonates with you.
