I usually find that the book is always so much better than the film as you create pictures in your own mind and use your own imagination. I was given this book to read by a relative, hadn't heard of it before and wasn't aware there was also a film of it but will definitely seek it out. I read To Kill A Mockingbird a while back then watched the film after and felt that it was only better than I was expecting because the acting was so good.
Sadie
No. I watched the movie first, which actually fueled my interest in the book. Because the makers of the movie stuck so closely to the book, both are wonderful.
Amiee
No. I saw the movie first. The book is much more in depth and the movie is a good tie-in. Some movie adaptations I don't like because they stray too much from the book. The movie adaptation of this book does change a few things just for timing's sake but for the most part is very faithful. Whichever medium you start one, you won't be disappointed by the other.

I enjoyed both the movie and the book. Movies can't put everything in that is in the book. I believe what Abilene taught Ame Mobley, " You is kind" " you is smart. You is important. Summed up it is how you see yourself as opposed to how other people make you see yourself. We are important.
Kamina
I enjoyed the movie and it helps me visualize the book more.
