Kathy asked:

Would this be good for a book group of older women none of whom are immigrants or with ties to India? How about "The Namesake"? We enjoyed "A Fine Balance" and the God of Small Things.

Darshani Workman This book tells stories and trials of Indian immigrants to the USA. As you have enjoyed A fine Balance, you would enjoy Interpreter of Maladies. Her short stories have a central theme of marriages in each.

The Namesake is around the non resident indians (NRI) as well and again, I think if you have been able to take in A fine Balance, the The Namesake would tug at your heartstrings too.

Give both a whirl each
