I am quite new at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ so I am still trying to figure out everything. Why do we have to wait so long if the book is already finished? Idk if this is a dumb question

Pirl between finishing the first draft and the final draft there are often dozens of revisions. sometimes whole characters are removed (this happened in hp4) or added, sometimes whole plotlines are moved from one book to another, and smaller edits also happen, sensitivity readers get the chance to read it, then an arc (advance reader's copy) is sent out, and based on the arc's reception and sensitivity reader's reviews, more things chance. then, they go over it a couple more times to make sure that there are no typos or grammar mistakes. and then, there's technical stuff, like placement on page and graphic design (which is more complicated than you might think), discussing distribution with bookvendors, and actually printing the book. this all can easily take six months, sometimes even more.
AHHHHHH My best guess is that they might still change some of the things in it. maybe they need to fix typos/other small details, or make sure the execution isn’t messy and to patch up any potential plot holes. I’m slightly dying while waiting for this book (because it’s never fun to wait for sequels, lol) but I’ve come to accept that they’re probably trying to embellish all the details :)
Zin Sham Its a very good question. Generally so the publishers have a chance to try and ruin the book. Most books would be far more interesting if the books were given to readers the way writers write them. But today everything is homogenized, and strained through a politically correct filter until it is jelly.
