Susan Reeves deMasi Not in my opinion. Scythe was extremely imaginative and thought-provoking. This one seemed more ordinary, although it is an enjoyable read.
The Book Squirrel This is not nearly as good as Scythe, but this is still excellent.
Tanya Scythe is much better. Better story, more excitement, surprises, & suspense. I'm much more invested in the Scythe characters than in the Dry characters.
Stefanie MagMag I don't think one is better than the other. If you are a Shusterman fan you will like it just as much. Different subject matter, but just as eye opening. Maybe even more so, because what happens in this book could actually happen. Yikes. My favorite is still the Unwind series, though.
devyn i think this book is on par with the Scythe series
Cocoa Boo Scythe is on another level, and left me excited, breathless and wanting more, and the characters stuck w/me. Dry is a realistic book (scary one too), and when it was finished, I was relieved, b/c the fear and turmoil I felt was too much (so good job w/that, Neal & Jarrod).
Book worm no no book is better than scythe and I stand by this, but dry and almost every book written by Neal Shusterman come very closes.
Jesica Love This book evoked a more emotional response from me than Scythe. I liked Scythe, but I found this book to be terrifying and I felt my anxiety build as the story went on.
Ann This is real late but my opinion is that this is better than scythe. Personally I'm not a huge fan of scythe by itself, what really stands out to me are it's sequels and the way Neal Shusterman is able to build on the first books themes and world. So I don't think dry as a single book is better than the arc of a scythe series, however I do think that dry is better than the first book of scythe by itself.
