I believe it represents humanity's most twisted, worst and most harmful potential. The Forest's actions feed off the Trademaster and his twisted manipulation of people's desires when he gives them what they want in exchange for their higher impulses and energies that had made the Village such a welcoming, compassionate place, full of loving kindness, in the first place. When the three characters linked their powers together, the power of good overcame the power of evil. Shows what humanity is capable of, if we could only get our act together!
