Jennifer Echelbarger-Mullins I just completed it. I'm currently trying to read the classics. I have to tell you that I didn't enjoy reading it and I'm glad I'm done.
Susan King I just read it, I am attempting to read the 100 books list, and had a time of getting through this one. Too many thees and thous and the author over explained things, or went off track for entire pages. Glad i finished it.
Cynthia Austin I'm reading it now. All I can say is; there are much better classics out there. I would stick with the Bronte sisters.
Patrick Barry Yes, but not sure fun is the correct word.
Susan I never read it in school. It was always on the list of suggested reading but I always chose something else from the list.
I recently finished reading HESTER by Laurie Albanese and really enjoyed it. It was the fictionalized story of the woman behind Hawethorne's inspiration for the SCARLET LETTER. I really enjoyed HESTER and wanted to then read the story that inspired it. The language in SCARLET LETTER can be difficult at times because the sentences go on and on. I listened to it as an unabridged audio book and that made it better. The narrator knew when to pause during those really long sentences to get the thought across.
Marilee One of my fav reads. So well and beautifully written. A beautiful love story. It explores love, sin, purity forgiveness, in all its eloquence. A wonderful book to listen to.
Maxine I'm just reading it now, after being out of school more than 50 years! It wasn't one that was assigned reading in school. I'm sure I'm appreciating it now much more than if I had read it as a teen-ager.
Robyn Crystal Larsen Yep. Read it just for fun, since it had been so long since I read it.
Matthew I thoroughly enjoyed the reading. Beautifully written, it is a bit of a challenge but well worth the effort.
