Mel asked Melissa Marr:

Saw on Facebook that you're answering questions. These questions have been asked, but I'm stubborn and am hoping that writer's block is no longer an issue and/or that plans have changed since you last responded. I've been reading your books for years and personally think that Carnival of Souls and Graveminder are your most unique books. Any chance we'll get something new in either world? Please and thank you!

Melissa Marr I've started sequels to both--although GM was sold & planned as a stand-alone. I go back to the GM one regularly. Maybe someday. I have the same 20-30k of a sequel written, but it's not on par with the first book in quality so unless I can make it worthy, it'll stay on my hard drive.

I'm fairly certain that there will not be a CoS sequel. The publisher totally bailed on that book even though it was meant to be a duo, & that combined with my first ever writer's block meant that I doubt I'll ever go to that world again.

I DID learn from that experience, though. I'm no longer keen on selling a book on proposal (as that one was sold). These days I write the whole book before selling it, & then the sequel before the first is on the shelves. That assures there is little to no chance of another book that lacks a conclusion :(

My NEXT novel for young readers is written, not announced, and a release date of 2020 is set. Before that, the sequel will be already written.

I have 2 more picture books coming--one in 2019 (BABY DRAGON) & one set to release in 2020 (BUNNY ROO AND DUCKLING TOO) if the art is finished on schedule.

I have two other novels (one written & in revision) & one in drafting. Both are stand-alone, adult novels.

So I have things in process, but not sequels to either of those books.
