I don't like knocking Disney. They've done a lot of really wonderful movies. But. Just finishing Darth Plagueis, and it ties in beautifully, as Aden says, and such rich source material. I feel JJ may have been working up to something special (the Force Awakens a IV clone, but at least felt like Star Wars), then TLJ tossed it all away with Disney approval. Why? Left JJ scrambling to tie up the impossible threads.

Seth I haven't come across anything in this book so far that conflicts with any of the new official canon stuff. To really get an answer your question, you'd have to ask Disney. But my guess is that rather than picking and choosing what to keep canon, it's easier to just throw it all away. It's not like they can't tell the story again and reintroduce it to canon.
