Madeline My edition includes Forster's 1960 terminal note, in which he writes that the main story occurs in 1912. He wasn't specific about this, but I feel like the 'main' part is towards the end, so it probably ends in 1912-3.

Caroline H I believe the main parts of the story take place from about 1911-1914? I know it is pre-WWI Europe and the time span from when Maurice meets Clive and the end of the book is give or take 3-4 years
