Hi Karole! Just wondering if your book, The Game Can't Love You Back (or any of your other books) is appropriate for a mature 11-year-old girl in 6th grade? Is there explicit material that would be inappropriate? She loves romance books and it's hard to find appropriate content for her in YA, especially because she can sometimes go through 2 a day! :) Thanks!

(view spoiler)[Hi Liz - I am SO SORRY I'm just seeing this now!
Here are some of the topics included in this book: her best friend losing her virginity (and failing to use protection & the morning after pill), some talk about hooking up and some actual hooking up and questions about sexuality and how much the main character is comfortable with, etc. Some cursing. So it really depends on what she's been exposed to thus far and what you're comfortable with her reading about. None of these topics are handled in a gratuitous manner, but I have some reservations about age 11. My daughter is almost 11, and I probably wouldn't hand her this one quite yet! I do appreciate your interest and hopes she gets to read it some day. (hide spoiler)]

I just wanted to say thank you for writing How to say I love you out loud. My cousin is autistic so this book meant a lot to me. Reading the book I see my cousins siblings who are not autistic are very similar to Jordyn. It really isn't easy all the time to have to live and deal with an autistic sibling. They are in situations like some in the book. There is more to say but all I want to say is thank you! ?
