It seemed as if it had become a tradition that if you killed someone, you tattooed a mark on your arm. Why would that have happened? Why would it be something you would want people to know about you?

I wish there was some backstory to this, otherwise it seems like an unnecessary undertaking for someone who doesn't want to kill in the first place.(less)
