I strongly recommend it . It was the first book I read by Adam Nevill and wasn't the last. Very scary read, deals with cults, occult and ghostly creepy stuff, amazing writing and good characterization. One advise, keep the lights on, "Old Friends" can shuffle in the darkness ;)

I concur with Dee. It's scary enough if your just starting out with the genre.

I disagree. There were some ghostly entities and such in the book, but I don't feel this is Nevill's best effort at writing a story that has real chills. I'd read his book The Ritual for that. If you want creepy ghosts and such...I'd recommend Peter Straub's Ghost Story, or Stephen King's The Shining.
