asked:
I see on the book's website that it's recommended for kids 14+, yet I found this book on a list of books read and recommended by an 8 year old (on Nerdy Book Club, found at https://nerdybookclub.wordpress.com/2015/05/29/girls-and-graphic-novels-by-emily-meixner/ ). Wondering if it's appropriate for my (very mature, yet still) 8 year old? Thanks!

If your kid is mature, then the book wouldn't be inappropriate. However, I don't think it'd be quite as hard-hitting for someone of that age simply because they haven't experienced a lot of the subject matter in the book--watching friends grow up and turn into people you never wanted to know, developing crushes on people, watching your body change in a way you never wanted.
Your child had probably best wait a few years, until they've experienced middle school (and maybe a bit of high school), but if they want to read it now there's no reason to stop them.
