"In Cold Blood" made in 1967 is a excellent film, highly recommended.
There was a remake for TV 1996 that is inferior, I don't recommend it.
"Capote" and "Infamous" are both really about Capote although both films center around the authors time spent with the killers, particularly Smith, and his research writing the book.

Yeah there is, kinda. The only one I know about is called Capote. It's more centered on Truman Capote but it follows the incident from start to finish. I really liked the movie. It brought the book alive for me.

There's another In Cold Blood movie. Was one of those made for TV movies I think. It had the guy who played Dr. Mark Green from ER and I think he was Goose in Top Gun, play one of the killers. In his younger days so maybe in the 80's it came out. It wasn't at the movie theater though. Just TV.

The black and white movie stars the guy from Baretta as one of the killers (the one who wouldn't take off his jean, even on the beach, because he was self conscious about his legs). Oddly enough, he was charged with killing his wife about 20 years ago. I think he got off. Capote is a good movie, too. None of the movies match the book, though.

There are actually three movies. One is called "In Cold Blood," it is older, in black and white. In 2005 "Capote" came out starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. And in 2006 another movie called "Infamous" came out. They are all good in my opinion.

I watched the 1967 film adaptation "In Cold Blood" (which depicts the events of the book as a typical film adaptation does), and also the 2005 film "Capote", starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. The latter doesn't exactly adapt In Cold Blood, but rather tells a biographical story about Truman Capote and his role in writing the book. To be honest, I found Capote to be a better film, and would highly recommend it to everyone who enjoyed In Cold Blood - it definitely gives an additional layer of insight. :)

The most recent films are: "Capote" from 2005 in which Phillip Seymour Hoffman played Capote and won a Best Actor Oscar; and "Infamous" from 2006 in which Toby Jones plays the title role. I think the latter, "Infamous" is a better film and Toby Jones is the PERFECT Capote, but it was overshadowed, critically and at the box office, by its predecessor.
