Sooo if Speak and The perks of being a wallflower were to have a smack down who would win? Both beautifully told stories of why one might stay quiet. 3

Kylie This is so tough! They are a little bit similar but so entirely different! In my opinion, I liked Speak better than Perks just because it resonated with me more. I felt a deeper connection and it touched me more emotionally. So I'd go with Speak, but they are both beautiful books.
Jessica I think I related to Perks of Being a Wallflower more so I would pick that one just a LITTLE bit over Speak. Love them both though.
Nihilistic Librarian Perks, hands down, no questions.
TheGoodReader Definitely Speak for me. It was beautiful in every way and the MC resonated in me very deeply. I’m still thinking about that book long after I’ve read it.
Zullemah Boyden I feel like the writing of Perks was so much more enjoyable! I have reread that book so many times. Although I enjoyed Speak, I wouldn't give it another read. Yeah, Perks all the way.
anthropomorphism In my view, The Perks of Being a Wallflower would run away in shame. Speak is far more beautiful, and definitely more alive.
Susan Oh, I'm going with Perks. To be fair--- ummm.. wait. I need to READ The Perks of Being a Wallflower before I can comment at all. But having seen the movie-- I would say Perks... Where can I view the movie version of Speak, lol. No. it's essentially NOT fair/cool for me to put in a 'vote'/opinion w/o having read both, I am well aware!
Hermione Speak all the way. I resonated with Melinda's voice much more and I felt it was way more realistic in how a traumatized person handles their isolation, guilt and sorrow.
Vaibhavi Hemasundar I would say Perks but only because I resonated more with it. I could relate to so much in that book, it's crazy. My copy is all marked up. I definitely really loved and appreciated Speak for the message it gave, but I didn't love the portrayal of high school and I did relate more to Charlie as a narrator.
