Book is 3000 times darker than the film, which isnay bad. But it does feel like a dumbed down version of the novel. At times, the film felt like a stripped down play rather than a high value production flick (at second viewing after just finishing the book). Besides the film's limitations and the lightness there's to it, the book is filled with storytelling devices and gut-wrenching twists. There's just naw comparison.
Paul Singleton
The book is well worth a read but it is not for people of a certain sensitivity. I absolutely loved it but my mate had to give up after twenty pages. The main character Bruce is an atrocious human being and gets up to all sorts of awful stuff throughout the book. Gritty but great doesn't begin to describe it.
Halid V. Orman
It's almost a must that is if you liked the movie of course, because there is never a better portrayal of a work than its own self.
Andrew Bell
James McAvoy's portrayel of Bruce in the movie is thrilling to watch. The book itself is even darker than the film and certainly not for the faint-hearted - I highly recommend you read it.
