Shawna Tiu asked:

Did anyone think it completely bizarre that Jaycee states in her 12/22 journal that she would never change a thing about her life, and that she would never turn back the clock and change the way things workout? She then goes further on to explain that she has no scars only scratches from her experience. Really?? A few scratches from being kidnapped, raped at 11, pregnant twice by her rapist, forced to live in filth

Bon Tom That's survival mode talking, that's all. Imagine what would happen if she didn't believe that. Also, it's America. When did you hear last time victim said "I hate motherfucker and I hope he rot in hell" in front of the camera or in a book. I'm reading tons of these documentaries and it seems it's obligatory to sound positive, otherwise, I guess, publishers assume it wouldn't sell. It's all smiles and bleached teeth, show must go on. The other comments to your question are just the proof. People are messing up their panties from how "positive" she is.
Nancy Moussa Don't judge until you have walked a mile in her shoes.
literaryaura She wouldn't change a thing because of her daughters, whom she wouldn't have had otherwise. Also, she has chosen to move past the trauma, and look at the positive side of life. So she chooses not to put too much weight on what happened to her and have it bring her down. You should check out her interviews and see how positive she is, despite what happened to her.
Brianna Brickey That's because she chose not to let the experience harden her. She knows she can't change what happened and wishing she could would be torturing herself. There are 2 ways to go after a traumatic experience or living in hell: stay scared and angry about what happened or try to move on and have a better life. Jaycee has chosen the ladder.
Auguste If you look back on everything that happened, you will notice how "nice" that sick twisted man tried to be to her. he didn't really physically abuse her, he sextually abused her but never really hit her. therefore he didn't whip her and didn't throw her around, so how could she have gotten scars?
Keren Maas It's also partly due to Stockholms Syndrome which I experienced with my abuser.
Faye YES its insane. ANd I noticed a ton of oppertunities throughout the entire book when she could have escaped but just... didnt.
