Neil Gaiman
“Along with the standard computer warranty agreement which said that if the machine 1) didn't work, 2) didn't do what the expensive advertisements said, 3) electrocuted the immediate neighborhood, 4) and in fact failed entirely to be inside the expensive box when you opened it, this was expressly, absolutely, implicitly and in no event the fault or responsibility of the manufacturer, that the purchaser should consider himself lucky to be allowed to give his money to the manufacturer, and that any attempt to treat what had just been paid for as the purchaser's own property would result in the attentions of serious men with menacing briefcases and very thin watches. Crowley had been extremely impressed with the warranties offered by the computer industry, and had in fact sent a bundle Below to the department that drew up the Immortal Soul agreements, with a yellow memo form attached just saying: 'Learn, guys...”

Suzanne Collins
“Start with that. Chaos. No control, no law, no government at all. Like being in the arena. Where do we go from there? What sort of agreement is necessary if we're to live in peace? What sort of social contract is required for survival?”
Suzanne Collins, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

C.S. Pacat
“Talik said, 'His contract with Lord Berenger ends soon. Ancel will seek a new contract, a high bidder. He wants money, status. He is foolish. Lord Berenger may offer less money, but he is kind, and never puts pets in the ring. Ancel has made many enemies. In the ring, someone will scratch his green eyes out, an "accident."'

Damen was drawn in against his will. 'That's why he's chasing royal attention? He wants the Prince to--' He tried out the unfamiliar vocabulary. '--offer for his contract?'

'The Prince?' said Talik, scornfully. 'Everyone knows the Prince does not keep pets.'

'None at all?' said Damen.

She said, 'You.' She looked him up and down. 'Perhaps the Prince has a taste for men, not these painted Veretian boys who squeal if you pinch them.' Her tone suggested that she approved of this on general principle.”
S.U. Pacat, Captive Prince

Amit Kalantri
“I don't understand this irony - valuable things like cars, gold, diamond are made up of hard materials but most valuable things like money, contracts and books are made up of soft paper.”
Amit Kalantri

Henri J.M. Nouwen
“When God makes a covenant with us, God says: 'I will love you with an everlasting love. I will be faithful to you, even when you run away from me, reject me, or betray me.' In our society we don’t speak much about covenants; we speak about contracts. When we make a contract with a person, we say: 'I will fulfill my part as long as you fulfill yours. When you don’t live up to your promises, I no longer have to live up to mine.' Contracts are often broken because the partners are unwilling or unable to be faithful to their terms.

But God didn’t make a contract with us; God made a covenant with us, and God wants our relationships with one another to reflect that covenant. That’s why marriage, friendship, life in community are all ways to give visibility to God’s faithfulness in our lives together.”
Henri J.M. Nouwen, Bread for the Journey: A Daybook of Wisdom and Faith

Alan Shepard
“It is a very sobering feeling to be up in space and realize that one's safety factor was determined by the lowest bidder on a government contract.”
Alan Shepard

“Contract law is essentially a defensive scorched-earth battleground where the constant question is, “if my business partner was possessed by a brain-eating monster from beyond spacetime tomorrow, what is the worst thing they could do to me?”
Charles Stross

George Bernard Shaw
“An author who gives a manager or publisher any rights in his work except those immediately and specifically required for its publication or performance is for business purposes an imbecile.”

“The social contract known as 'The Constitution' has been null and void since the last person who signed it, died. Even then, it was only ever applicable to the men who signed it. That's how contracts work.”
Dane Whalen

“When you feel weak in spirit, think about the agreements you made with yourself about how to live an honourable life. We all have them, but unfortunately the contracts are often written in invisible ink when they should be signed in blood.”
Suzanne Hayes, I'll Be Seeing You

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
“Quem não tenciona satisfazer não regateia condições no contratar.”
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quijote de la Mancha I

Hanya Yanagihara
“But fairness is not the only, or even the most important, consideration in law: the law is not always fair. Contracts are not fair, not always. But sometimes they are necessary, these unfairnesses, because they are necessary for the proper functioning of society. In this class you will learn the difference between what is fair and what is just, and, as important, between what is fair and what is necessary. You will learn about the obligations we have to one another as members of society, and how far society should go in enforcing those obligations. You will learn to see your life—all of our lives—as a series of agreements, and it will make you rethink not only the law but this country itself, and your place in it. pp.116-7”
Hanya Yanagihara , A Little Life

Jose R. Coronado
“It's owed to us through immunities of our individualities but we're deceived and become surety. Sure to be if we grow in knowledge, we can charge it back to the treasury & be master of who we truly are to be.
Contrast between phantoms & the contract killas, contradicting what's meant to be free. Commercial warfare but money can't release you from the bind; only spiritual knowledge from God which is enlightened through the mind.”

“The following information really should be placed on all very high altitude job adverts and company contracts: WARNING â€ Very high altitude commuting presents many known health risks to sea level adapted humans. Some of the documented conditions are headaches, forgetfulness, confusion, irritability, aggression, hallucinations, visions, light headedness, fatigue, fainting, sore throats, runny noses, digestive disturbances, changed personality and panic attacks. Development of cancer, anemia, high cholesterol, heart, lung, brain, and blood oxygenation issues have occurred in very high altitude workers that have resulted in disability and premature death. The nearest fully equipped hospital accident and emergency facility is typically one to two hours away. Numerous very high altitude workers have been killed due to fatal mistakes on the job. Workers are expected to use a variety of company supplied drugs to offset the daily very high altitude sickness including "RX-Only" prescription medical oxygen. Daily long term self medication is known to damage human health. The work environment is comparable to a Faraday cage and Faraday Cage Sickness (FCS) may occur in long term workers. Radiation levels are abnormally high and long term radiation sickness may result. Blood oxygen levels are typically in the region of 80% and the medical profession regards this as a health risk. Extreme night shifts are associated with causing poor health and lifelong sleep disorders. Low oxygen environments are associated with the onset of irritability, fatigue and Sleep Apnea. Repeatedly reporting observations of abnormal behaviors in workers to upper management may result in your contract not being renewed or termination without notice. Permanently sickened workers are unlikely to qualify for corporate government disability payments, which may lead to a lifetime of extreme poverty.”
Steven Magee

“At all events, in a society, all of whose members are free, and equal in the true sense of the words, there is no other means than free contracts, by which to form combinations or build up relations of any kind. Compulsion by laws of any kind or in any form is absolutely excluded by the very orders of liberty and equality.”
Johann Joseph Most, An Anarchist Reader

Liz Braswell
“Then we should let our hearts and souls dictate our actions, My Grimsby, not contracts. There are those who can judge us, maybe, for what we swore and didn't swear.”

“Never make a verbal contract with a snake. Always put it in Venom.”

“To lovers out there ...

A relationship is verbal contract between two people. Like any contract there are clauses, terms and conditions. If you don’t know any clauses, terms and conditions of your relationship. How then would you know if you are not bridging your contract. When to end your contract and how to make your partner happy based on the agreement. When to upgrade your contract to a written one which is Marriage .”
De philosopher DJ Kyos

“The truth is most Artist when they sign contracts. They don’t care what it says or about terms and conditions. All they want is exposure , To be on the line light. To be famous. Having enough money to get by. They want to be in the main stream at all cost, even if it costs them their royalties, masters , life and freedom. Especially those who had been trying to make it on their own. Who had been struggling and hustling for years. Anything is good than nothing, because they are desperate. Once they make it. That is when they start crying and want people who were not part of their contract to sympathize with them, meanwhile they knew what they were getting themselves into , when signing the contract. They knew they would be cheated. They didn’t mind as long they will get also something out of it. The something they got is not enough anymore now they want more because they know their worth.”
De philosopher DJ Kyos

Steven Magee
“Nothing is concrete until I have a deposit in my bank and a signed contract.”
Steven Magee

“We live in a world full of contracts. When someone fails to meet the outlined terms of the contract, we seek a better suitor. When the agreement stops benefitting us, we cancel it. God’s love is different, it’s a covenant. With covenants, there are no exit clauses, there are no grounds for termination of the agreement. Once you enter the covenant, there is no way to void it. The stronger party is committed to the weaker party and will uphold them, even when they break their end of the agreement. In other words, God’s promises aren’t dependent on us, He knows we’ll fall short. His promises are dependent on Him. When we fail, He remains faithful. The only thing He asks is that we trust in Him.”
Michael J Heil, Pursued: God’s relentless pursuit and a drug addict’s journey to finding purpose

Barbara Kingsolver
“A creature with a big enough head to make a contract should have the sense to make one it can keep.”
