“Zane let his head loll back and lifted one hand to gently prod his split lip. "Ow."

"Whine about it. It'll make it better," Ty offered as he stood in front of his locker, his back to Zane, and unwrapped the tape from his hands with jerky, irritated movements.

"Bite me," Zane muttered as he dug into his locker for a towel before starting in on the tape on his own hands. He spared an evil glance for Ty. "Teaching me to advance in a fight is a bad idea."

"Teaching you to fight at all is an exercise in futility," Ty responded in a matter-of-fact tone. "Luckily for you, I enjoy things like banging my head against a wall."

"I enjoy banging your head against a wall too," Zane replied as he tossed the balled-up tape at a nearby trash can. He let a small smile quirk his lips as he sat on the bench to unlace his shoes.

"Shut up," Ty grunted at him. But even though his back was still turned to him, Zane could hear the smile in his voice. "And cut it out with the damn cat jokes, huh? They're starting to catch on."

"Fine, fine. No reason to get catty about it," Zane told his partner with a barely concealed grin.

"A for effort," Ty conceded charitably.”

“Ty." Zane's even, soothing tones finally broke on the short gasp of his name. "I Love you and I'm scared I'll lose you. Please don't leave me alone in the dark.”

“Ty removed his fingers from Zane鈥檚 back as he saw the shiver run through him, and he pressed his lips tightly together, looking up and away in disgust as he resigned himself to what he was about to do. Broaching the subject could possibly cost him his job if Zane went tattling to the higher-ups about sexual harassment or some shit, but Ty was going to do it anyway. 鈥淎nything you need to say to me?鈥�

The visual of Ty鈥檚 nude body flashed behind Zane鈥檚 eyelids, and he spoke before he thought better of it. 鈥淣othing you want to hear,鈥� he murmured as he faced the mirror, hoping to diffuse the situation. 鈥淭hanks for the help,鈥� he added, wanting desperately to get away from this tension.

鈥淵ou sure about that?鈥� Ty asked as his stomach fluttered nervously. His voice finally betrayed the nerves. 鈥淭rying to be a real partner to you here, Zane. If you need to tell me something, then here鈥檚 your chance.”

“Ty caught his breath, nearly gasping when Zane finally touched their lips together. He shivered and his lips parted tentatively, but his wary eyes never closed. Giving in, Zane pulled him closer and lifted one hand to cup Ty鈥檚 cheek as he increased the pressure of his lips against Ty鈥檚.

Ty groaned softly and finally relaxed against the kiss, returning it tentatively. He knew he鈥檇 regret this just as soon as they parted, but he couldn鈥檛 bring himself to stop it.

Tension cramped Zane鈥檚 gut as Ty鈥檚 lips moved, and he deepened the kiss, all the itch and urge heating inside him as his traced Ty鈥檚 lips with his tongue. Oh, this was going to be an absolute fucking mess, he just knew it. He pulled his fingers out of the waistband and curled that arm around Ty鈥檚 waist as he leaned into the dangerous kiss. His hand on Ty鈥檚 cheek trembled.

Ty indulged himself in the deeper kiss for a long, horribly tantalizing moment before he pulled his head back just enough to break the contact and pushed gently at Zane鈥檚 chest. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 what I thought,鈥� he rasped as his breath gusted against Zane鈥檚 lips.”
