“The first ayât (verse) of Al-Fatiha (the most important chapter in the Qur'a-n) firmly establishes that the two names Al-Rahmân and Al-Rahîm refer to Allâh, the Supreme Power, and to Allâh exclusively. The two names' etymology stems from the same root: RAHM, which can mean "womb" or "place of origin". There is a hadîth qudsî that specifically addresses that: Allâh says, "I am al-Rahmân. I created the womb and I derived its name from My name. I will be connected to whoever stays connected to it, and I will be cut off from whoever stays cut off from it.”

“In „The Secret of Secretsâ€�, al-Jilani refers to the Hadith Qudsi, where God speaks through His Messenger, peace be upon him:

„Man is My secret and I am his secret. The inner knowledge of the spiritual essence (ilm al-batin) is a secret of My secrets. Only I put this into the heart of My good servant, and none may know his state other than Me.â€� (p. 192)”

It is in this sense that His lovers are points of light; places where He can unfold the hidden purpose of His creation. The deepest joy of the mystic is that he can participate in this work. The Sufi sees the purpose of creation expressed in the hadîth qudsî: “I was a hidden treasure and I wanted to be known, so I created the world.â€� The Beloved awakens the lover so that He can use the lover’s eyes to see Himself—“I created perception in thee only that therein I might become the object of My perception.â€� Through the eyes of the lover the Beloved can see Himself reflected in His creation. “Prophet Muhammad PBUH said, that Allah SWT said: "When Allah loves a slave, He calls Gabriel and says: 'I love so-and-so; so love him.' And then Gabriel loves him. Then Gabriel announces in the heavens saying: 'Allah loves so-and-so; so love him'; then the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him; and then people on earth love him."
