“I don’t remember anything about the accident that changed my life. All I knew was what seemed like an endless, foggy dream.”

Mohamad Jebara
“To engage Jews excluded by the harsh and judgmental elite, Jesus insisted on preaching out in nature to mass audiences. To renew appreciation for a loving and compassionate Divine, Jesus sat alongside the poor and the outcast, most notably lepers.”
Mohamad Jebara, The Life of the Qur'an: From Eternal Roots to Enduring Legacy

Charles Bukowski
“I could see the road ahead of me. I was poor and I was going to stay poor. But I didn't particularly want money. I didn't know what I wanted. Yes, I did. I wanted someplace to hide out, someplace where one didn't have to do anything. The thought of being something didn't only appall me, it sickened me. The thought of being a lawyer or a councilman or an engineer, anything like that, seemed impossible to me. To get married, to have children, to get trapped in the family structure. To go someplace to work every day and to return. It was impossible. To do things, simple things, to be part of family picnics, Christmas, the 4th of July, Labor, Mother's Day . . . was a man born just to endure those things and then die? I would rather be a dishwasher, return alone to a tiny room and drink myself to sleep.

My father had a master plan. He told me, "My son, each man during his lifetime should buy a house. Finally he dies and leaves that house to his son. Then his son gets his own house and dies, leaves both houses to his son. That's two houses. That son gets his own house, that's three houses . . ."

The family structure. Victory over adversity through the family. He believed in it. Take the family, mix with God and Country, add the ten-hour day and you had what was needed.

I looked at my father, at his hands, his face, his eyebrows, and I knew that this man had nothing to do with me. He was a stranger. My mother was non-existent. I was cursed. Looking at my father I saw nothing but indecent dullness. Worse, he was even more afraid to fail than most others. Centuries of peasant blood and peasant training. The Chinaski bloodline had been thinned by a series of peasant-servants who had surrendered their real lives for fractional and illusionary gains. Not a man in line who said, "I don't want a house, I want a thousand houses, now!"

He had sent me to that rich high school hoping that the ruler's attitude would rub off on me as I watched the rich boys screech up in their cream-colored coupes and pick up the girls in bright dresses. Instead I learned that the poor usually stay poor. That the young rich smell the stink of the poor and learn to find it a bit amusing. They had to laugh, otherwise it would be too terrifying. They'd learned that, through the centuries. I would never forgive the girls for getting into those cream-colored coupes with the laughing boys. They couldn't help it, of course, yet you always think, maybe . . . But no, there weren't any maybes. Wealth meant victory and victory was the only reality.

What woman chooses to live with a dishwasher?”
Charles Bukowski, Ham On Rye

Ljupka Cvetanova
“A self reflection :
Do you know who I am?
Do you know who you are?!”
Ljupka Cvetanova, Yet Another New Land

“People who are really poor, can't afford to do crime, because they don't have means and resources to commit one. They might have a reason to do it, but wont have strength, capacity, materials or resources to commit one. It is people who are well off who are doing most crimes, because they can afford to.”
De philosopher DJ Kyos

Jarod Kintz
“Cash rich is future poor. Back in 1913, I could have almost bought a mansion for the price of a cup of coffee today.”
Jarod Kintz, The Lewis and Clark of The Ozarks

“I only VOTE with my wallet. I have no money, so you should probably try to buy my support.”

“Material means that hide man's meanness fail to reflect his moral richness.”

Laurence Galian
“Serving humanity is the priority of the real dervish, not serving in some overly sentimental sense of being charitable to those “less fortunate than we are, but through recognizing the Divine Light in all human beings, and acting accordingly. Think of all the numerous ways that our Prophet (Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) would constantly suggest to his community to help those who were poor, sick, widowed, orphaned, and some way in need. Spend your time thinking how you can help your neighbor, rather than worrying about tekke politics. As a dervish, you only exist to serve; forget about sleights to your ego. We are only dust under the feet of Muhammad (s.a.w.s.).”
Laurence Galian, The Sun at Midnight: The Revealed Mysteries of the Ahlul Bayt Sufis

“ow a hobo is a different breed of cat than you think. Oh, people are getting educated to the idea that a hobo will work and move on, whereas a tramp will mooch and move on, and a bum will mooch and hang around, but you still find folks who are ignorant enough to call us bums.”
ROBLES, JR.

Steven Magee
“Poor Melania Trump.”
Steven Magee

“Justice knows no bias. It wears the blindfold of equality, serving the rich and the poor with unwavering impartiality. The rule of law stands tall, demanding respect from all.”
DON SANTO

Émile Zola
“Yes, all you French workers have that one idea: you want to dig up a treasure and live on it for evermore in selfish and lazy isolation. You make a great song against the rich, but when fortune give you some money you haven't the guts to give it back to the poor. You will never deserve to be happy so long as you have personal possessions, and your hatred of the bourgeois simply comes from your mad desire to be bourgeois yourselves in their place!”
Émile Zola, Germinal

“If you are paying money to see how other people are living. Then know that you are privileged.”
De philosopher DJ Kyos

Rove Monteux
“As the gap between the rich and the poor widens, the marginalised voices of the impoverished become a mere whisper against the clamour of the privileged few.”
Rove Monteux, What is Wrong with Society Today

“When a country just emerges from poverty, it possesses cheap labor; it's the best period for everyone, including the poor. This sweet spot occurs only once in a civilization. China was in that position two decades ago, and now it's India and Bangladesh. Enjoy this advantageous position as long as it lasts. The labor costs will soon rise, and we will face the same fate as the West. On paper, these countries may have higher GDP and better HDI, but in reality, people cannot afford basic necessities such as food, housing, healthcare, and education.”
Hemen K

Steven Magee
“Lotteries are how the rich steal from the poor!”
Steven Magee

Atul Gawande
“We have no illusions about this. ... When an attending physician brings a family member in for surgery, people at the hospital think hard about how much to let the trainees participate. ... Conversely, the ward services and clinics where residents have the most responsibility are populated by the poor, the uninsured, the drunk, and the demented.”
Atul Gawande, Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science

“I came to this country with a bag and no phone to call home. I had a choice to live at the top of the Empire State Building or under the Brooklyn Bridge.”

“the poorest know, and the richest have forgotten.”
Jules Pretty, The Earth Only Endures

Aida Mandic
“The Dark Cloud
Is the degradation minorities face because they want to be a dreamer and a doer
Is the sculpted destiny of someone who was born poor
Is the suffocating feeling you get when you are told to shut up
Is the tragic life story of a sick child who has cancer and who can’t even hold a cup”
Aida Mandic, The Dark Cloud

“Whenever it storms, their shelters are dismantled first and for long. And the apparent skies are hopeless.”

Shon Mehta
“One can read, talk, and think about poverty, but one can never understand poverty until one has experienced it.”
Shon Mehta, Lair Of The Monster

“Break free of the deception that exists in many cultures the lie that speaks of power as inherently evil. Consider instead that weakness, poverty, and passivity, are often more dangerous than power. Weakness, poverty, and passivity often lead to paths that do not serve you individually paths that do not serve us collectively, and paths that do not serve us spiritually.”
Kevin L. Michel, The 7 Laws of Quantum Power
