“Alex stepped out from behind the rock.
Relieved to see him in one piece, I threw myself forward and hugged him. He returned the embrace with a low chuckle, "Jeez, Dez, if I knew this was what it would take to get you to put your hands all over me again, I would have done it sooner.”

“Relief is a great feeling.
It鈥檚 the emotional and physical reward we receive from our bodies upon alleviation of pain, pressure and struggle. A time to bask in the lack of the negative.
And yet, think about it鈥攔elief is really the status quo, a negation of the suffering, a nothing in itself. It is the way things were before the pressure and struggle began.
So, is it a step back? A regression?
Or is it an opportunity to regroup, start over, and move in a different direction?
Use your moment of relief well.”

“For the artist himself art is not necessarily therapeutic; he is not automatically relieved of his fantasies by expressing them. Instead, by some perverse logic of creation, the act of formal expressions may simply make the dredged-up material more readily available to him.”

“The prince opens his tawny fox eyes and looks around. When he sees me, he slumps back down, as though relieved that I am still here.”

“I lifted the book, firing two words down the bond between us before I blasted my shields up again.
Conversation over.
'Like hell it is,' he snarled. A thrum of power caressed my fingers, and then the book sealed shut between my hands. My nails dug into the leather and paper- to no avail.
Bastard. Arrogant, presuming bastard.
Slowly, I lifted my eyes to him. And I felt... not hot temper- but icy, glittering rage.
I could almost feel that ice at my fingertips, kissing my palms. And I swore there was frost coating the book before I hurled it at his head.
He shielded fast enough that it bounced away and slid across the marble floor behind us.
'Good,' he said, his breathing a bit uneven. 'What else do you have, Feyre?'
Ice melted to flame, and my fingers curled into fists.
And the High Lord of the Night Court honestly looked relieved at the sight of it- of that wrath that made me want to rage and burn.
A feeling, for once. Not like that hollow cold and silence.
And the thought of returning to that manor with the sentries and the patrols and the secrets... I sank back into my chair. Frozen once more.
'Any time you need someone to play with,' Rhys said, pushing the plate toward me on a star-flecked wind, 'whether it's during our marvellous week together or otherwise, you let me know.'
I couldn't muster up a response, exhausted from the bit of temper I'd shown.
And I realised I was in a free fall with no end. I had been for a while. From the moment I'd stabbed that Fae youth in the heart.”

“Rhys only peered over his broad shoulder, to the cheerful restaurant behind us. 'That first night we were all here,' he said, and I followed his gaze, watching the workers set the tables with loving precision. 'When you told Sevenda that you felt awake while eating her food...' He shook his head. 'It was the first time you looked... peaceful. Like you were indeed awake, alive again. I was so relieved I thought I'd puke right onto the table.'
...
I linked arms with him before saying, 'You and this city helped wake me up- helped bring me back to life.' His eyes flickered as I smiled up at him. 'I will fight with everything I have, too, Rhys. Everything.'
He only kissed the top of my head, tugging me closer as we crossed the Sidra under the starry sky.”

“She was hungry. She was... doing something. Learning something.
...
I put a hand on my chest, leaning against the wood panels of the stair wall. Rhys's hand covered my own a heartbeat later.
'That's what I felt,' he said, 'when I saw you smile that night we dined along the Sidra.'
I leaned forward, resting my brow against his chest, right over his heart. 'She still has a long way to go.'
'We all do.'
He stroked a hand over my back. I leaned into the touch, savouring his warmth and strength.”

“I鈥檓 relieved to see
that even brilliant physicists make mistakes.鈥
Kohler looked over. 鈥淲hat do you mean?鈥
鈥淲hoever wrote that note made a mistake. That column isn鈥檛 Ionic. Ionic columns are uniform in width. That one鈥檚 tapered. It鈥檚 Doric鈥攖he Greek counterpart. A common mistake.鈥
