“In many ways, our consciousness is a trainer. A large part of its function is to train the unconscious to do things that would be impossible if the unconscious were directed purely by instinct. You need a space where you can deal with relations of ideas, truths of reason, universals, holism, coherence, pure logic, and so on.”
