Paradoxes of Destiny?
Dani! My boy! Are you all right? Where are you? Have you hurt yourself? Are you all right? Daniiii! Why won鈥檛 you answer? It鈥檚 so cold and dark here. I can鈥檛 see a thing鈥� It鈥檚 so silent. Dani? Can you hear me? I shouldn鈥檛 have looked at that text message while I was driving鈥� I shouldn鈥檛 have done it! I'm so stupid sometimes! Son, are you all right?... We really wrecked the car when we rolled it! I can鈥檛 see or hear a thing鈥� Am I in hospital? Am I dead鈥�? Dani? Your silence is killing me鈥� Are you all right?! I can see a glimmer of light. I feel trapped. Dani, are you there? I can鈥檛 move. It鈥檚 like I鈥檓 wrapped in this mossy green translucent plastic. I have to get out of here. The light is getting more and more intense. I think I can tear the wrapping that鈥檚 holding me in. I'm almost out. The light is blinding me. What a strange place. I've never seen anything like it. It doesn鈥檛 look like Earth. Am I dead? On another planet? Oh God, look at those hideous monsters! They鈥檙e so creepy and disgusting! They look like extraterrestrials. They鈥檙e aliens! I'm on another planet! I can鈥檛 believe it. I need to get the hell out here. Those monsters are going to devour me. I have to get away. I鈥檓 so scared. Am I floating? Am I flying? I鈥檓 going to go higher to try to escape. I can鈥檛 see the aliens anymore and the landscape looks less terrifying. I think I've made it. It鈥檚 very windy. Is that a highway? I think I can see some vehicles down there. Could they be the extraterrestrials鈥� transport? I鈥檓 going to go down a bit. I see people! Am I on Earth? Could this be a parallel universe? Where could Dani be? I shouldn鈥檛 have looked at that text message while I was driving. I shouldn鈥檛鈥�
That tower down there looks a lot like the water tank in my town鈥� It鈥檚 identical. But the water tank in my town doesn鈥檛 have that huge tower block next to it. It all looks very similar to my neighborhood, but it isn鈥檛 exactly the same: there are a lot of tower blocks here. There鈥檚 the river鈥� and the factory. It鈥檚 definitely my neighborhood, but it looks kind of different. I must be in a parallel universe鈥�
It鈥檚 amazing that I can float. People don鈥檛 seem to notice my presence. Am I a ghost?
I have to get back home and see if Dani鈥檚 there. God, I hope he鈥檚 safe and sound. Gabriela must be out of her mind with the crash.
There鈥檚 my house! Home sweet home. And whose are those cars? The front of the house has been painted a different color鈥� This is all so strange! There鈥檚 someone in the garden鈥� Those trees I planted in the spring have really grown.
Is鈥� is that鈥� Dani? Yes, yes! It鈥檚 Dani. But he looks so different鈥� He looks older, he looks鈥� like a big boy! What鈥檚 important is that he鈥檚 OK. I need to hug him tight and tell him how much I love him. Can he see me if I鈥檓 a ghost? I'll go up to him slowly so I don鈥檛 scare him. I need to hold him tight.
He can鈥檛 see me, I won鈥檛 get any closer. He moved his head, I think he鈥檚 started to realize I鈥檓 here鈥�
Wow I鈥檓 so hungry all of a sudden! I can鈥檛 stop! How are you doing, son?! It鈥檚 me! Your dad! My dear boy? I can鈥檛 stop! I'm too hungry! Ahhhh, so delicious! What a pleasure! Nooo Daniii! Nooooo!.... I鈥檓 your daaaad!...
Splat!...
鈥淢um, bring the insect repellent, the garden鈥檚 full of mosquitoes,鈥� grunted Daniel as he wiped the blood from the palm of his hand on his trousers. Gabriela was just coming out. She did an about turn and went back into her house, and shouted 鈥淒arling, bring the insect repellent, it鈥檚 on the fireplace鈥︹€�
