Yes! I didn't realise this TV series was going to be published in book form until I received an email from Hot Key Books, and I knew immediately I had to read them. When this series was first released on TV I was a big fan, but just never watched series 2 or 3. However, this first instalment did not disappoint, it is very similar to the first series, and thoroughly enjoyable. The covers are okay, they stand out and tell you what you need to know; I am also pleased they did not come out looking too cheesy.
Pull of the Moon follows a family of Wolfbloods in a small country village, as Maddy awaits her first transformation. However, the surprise arrival of the unknown Wolfblood Rhydian causes tension within their small village, as the risk of exposure becomes more apparent as the await the transformation of two new Wolfbloods.
The characters of this novel. They feel so realistic, I think it helps having watched the TV show to get a grasp of the characters, but I love seeing their passion and enthusiasm, alongside not being afraid to be who they are. The emotions exhibited were raw and realistic, and I enjoyed being able to view the plot from four points of view. Rigby did a brilliant job of intertwining all the characters, as you were easily able to identify who was speaking.
The plot of this novel as I said previously stuck very close the TV series. It was addictive and dangerous, unlike many younger werewolf novels out there; it is certainly unique! I think the only thing that knocked the star off for me was that the writing felt very simple, meaning it was very apparent that this series is targeted towards a younger audience. However, it was thoroughly enjoyable none-the-less and made for an easy and adventurous read!
Therefore, I would certainly recommend giving this series a go, alongside watching the TV show, for it is certainly unique for the age range it is targeting....more

An addictive and dangerous novel, The Prophecy is an amazing debut by Erin Rhew. The covers of this series are beautiful, the colours are truly wonderful drawing you straight in.
When Layla is captured and brought before the Prince of the Ethereals to be his wife, Layla is not willing to comply. As a Vanguard they are sworn enemies, but as the days go on with tensions rising in the kingdoms, Layla cannot help her feelings from overcoming her. However, Nash carries a large secret that will change all; Layla just has to find out what first.
Layla is a strong, independent and empowering protagonist that will not go down without a fight. She was strongly likeable and you could not help but cheer for her in her shining moments. She was caring for those around her with the building of strong friendships, never giving up when they were in danger; she did not need to be looked after by the male love interests, as this happens far too often in YA novels. Yes, there was a love triangle though Rhew pulled it off well!
The plot of this novel was fast pace and full of action and adventure, with a few fights against trespassers that kept you on your toes. There was only one thing I wanted, and it was for something more to happen as I felt on some occasions it was a little bland. However, there is no denying that I was completely invested in the novel and am very excited to read the sequel: The Outlanders.
Full of mystery and intrigue, The Prophecy will have you engaged till the very end and beyond....more

Addictive, page-turning and smart. Trust Me, I'm Lying will certainly leave a positive lasting impression; a definite read for all Ally Carter fans like myself! I love the cover. So dark and mysterious, with the use of the shadows and necklace really capture your eye.
Julep Dupree is a grifter. An expert in her profession, Julep only learnt from the best until he goes missing and she finds her apartment turned upside down. With the leader trying to find and capture her, Julep recruits her best friend and hacker Sam alongside the charmingly popular Tyler to help her find her Dad whilst uncovering stalkers, family secrets and a herd of criminals.
"Your story is your best offence; your disguise is your best defense." Trust Me, I'm Lying by Mary Elizabeth Summer
Julep Dupree was a smart, witty and yet easily likeable character. Julep was a female protagonist who did not rely on anyone else, and though her actions were not always lawful, she had the best intentions to help out those around her. Julep thought carefully through most of her plans which showed maturity and thoughtfulness. What I liked most about her character through the progression of the novel, is she began to find her true self.
"When you can be anybody, you become nobody." Trust Me, I'm Lying by Mary Elizabeth Summer
The plot of this novel was fast-pace with a gallon of twists and turns that grab your attention. Alongside this, there was danger and action but most importantly I loved how their actions were not what you expected. I also loved the change in motives and secrets revealed near the end, I felt this added a more serious edge to the novel as the circumstances were of more of a realistic setting. The con theme to this novel was certainly fascinating; there are fake ID's, hacking and much more.
This is a highly addictive novel, perfect for fans of Ally Carter; Mary Elizabeth Summer is certainly an author to watch!...more

A brilliant and captivating sequel to The 100! I love the cover, I am never usually a fun of TV series/movie covers however this is certainly an exception (except that permanent sticker!).
100 prisoners are sent down to Earth, on a quest to determine whether Earth is now survivable. Relationships are tested, friendships are tested and trust is tested. But soon these are the least of their worries as they find out they are not alone. In the sequel, you follow The 100's quest to find Octavia and how they are learning to survive alongside controlling their fear of the Earthborns, whilst in the sky Glass and Luke need to make their choices and fast, as the Arc begins to lose oxygen.
I loved seeing the continuation of the different perspectives of our main characters, Morgan does it perfectly as at not one stage did it become confusing as to who was who. I was ecstatic to see an improvement of Clarke's character in Day 21, she appeared less selfish and tried her hardest to do what she thought what was right; she fought for The 100. Bellamy was as amazing as ever, he was protective of others and did not give up until he had what he wanted. Alongside this he was compassionate, and we were able to see a different side to Bellamy as we gained an insight into his past. Then we have Glass and Luke, I am still not sure what to think of Glass. At one point she seems completely unselfish, and then the next she seems the opposite. In comparison to Luke who is lovely and caring, and would do anything for Glass.
The plot of Day 21 was engaging and had a few edge-of-your-seat moments. There were raging arguments and secrets spilled, alongside new adorable friendships. Additionally you also get to learn more of the history of the Arc and Earth, answering some of your unsaid questions along the way. The scenes on the Arc will definitely pull at your heart strings with the dark truth of peoples desperation for survival, and to what extent they will go to for it.
This is definitely my favourite novel in The Hundred series so far, and I cannot wait for the sequel: Homecoming....more

Full of action, conspiracies and treason, this novel will have you holding your breath. I am quite a fan of the cover, it is not over-the-top but yet captures your attention as it shines; I am also pleased they didn't include their whole faces!
The Illyri have taken over the Earth, and they will kill anything in their way. However, as the Resistance becomes more ruthless and the Illyri become more agitated, rules are lifted to expose the weaknesses in all. (The least you know the better!)
"Only a fool wasn't frightened of dying, he told himself, and there was no bravery without fear."
Conquest by John Connolly & Jennifer Ridyard (Physical ARC, page 412)
This novel shifted swiftly and easily from numerous perspectives, though our main protagonist was Syl. She was strong and intelligent. She always put others before herself even when it would put her in the same danger. She had good instinct and though she was not a physical fighter, she was a fighter in her own way. I enjoyed seeing the perspective from Meia who is a spy, she was intuitive and flawless; a brilliantly mysterious background character. What I was pleased about from this novel was the romance did not take over the main plot; it was more in the background; it was a sweet love interest.
To begin with, this novel takes a while to get into. I felt it was mainly due to all the information you were bombard with, to remember who was who and what happened when was hard to figure out during the beginning as you were immersed into a completely new world. This is a novel that you definitely have to stick to, and may take you a little while to read it took me seventeen days to read! Alongside this I felt there were some scenes that could have been taken out as I just got a little bored whilst reading them.
However, please do not let this put you off. It is certainly a carefully planned novel that is definitely full of action. The action and raging war between the Illyri and the Resistance in this novel is certainly dark but will simply captivate you to finish reading the scene; both are incredibly interesting to learn about. There is true emotion from all our characters, and the lengths they will go to to protect those they love, but also humanity.
This is an action-packed novel that drags you into a world were humanity is at its weakest....more

This was an easy read containing action and adventure alongside a serious note of war and emotions. The cover is what first caught my eye, it is how I pictured Nihal but it was mostly her sword and it's intricate design that made me curious and intrigued to read this novel.
Nihal is unique and individual amongst the villagers in the Land of the Wind, but one thing is certain: she wants to become the first female warrior. However, when her village is destroyed along with many others, Nihal possess the emotions of anger and revenge as her new best friends embark on an unforgettable and life-changing journey.
Nihal went through a lot of stages throughout the novel, though she was fierce and determined she also came across as naive and very spoilt meaning I felt I was unable to connect well with her. One aspect I did enjoy about her character was how her emotions evolved, she was delicate and vulnerable, the complete opposite of the type of person she was trying to be; it was very interesting to watch.
The plot of this novel was imaginative and gripping, I was instantly captivated by the action and adventure but additionally the background story to the novel; the history and relationships behind, I am intrigued to know more meaning I look forward to finding out more in the sequel....more

Addictive and refreshing, Out of Control is a fast pace, action-packed novel that you will not be able to put down. I really like the cover of this edition, it is dark and mysterious, yet simple.
I knew very little about this novel going into it, and I felt that made the experience even more thrilling. Just know that it is two teens on the run from both the police and two killers, with a lot of action and suspense. It will blow you away!
Our main protagonist Liva was a refreshing character. She was not perfect, not acting above others, she was down-to-earth and could defend for herself with strength and knowledge. Liva did not whine at any moments, she got on with the job at hand and always did what she could to protect others, even if she knew very little about them. What I additionally liked about Liva was that she was intelligent and just got on with the job, Liva would always try to find a way to protect them, even if it would only protect Jay and not herself.
The plot of this novel was fast paced and full on. But the most important element was of human trafficking. I have never read a novel including this theme before, though it was subtle and not a dominant part of the novel, the awareness it brings to the reader will truly make you stop and think. Alderson created an addictive and, at times, heart-stopping plot with its suspense, alongside action scenes and car chases that will make this novel un-put-downable. There are twists and turns at every corner, and though I was able to predict the outcome, it was still a surprise for you could see how well-carved this plot was.

Full of snarky banter, hot guys, action and aliens, this novel will keep you turning the pages till the very end! I am not a huge fan of the covers as they come across as a little cheesy, though I do like the colours. (His eyes freak me out!)
When Katy moves to West Virginia, the last thing she expects is Daemon Black. Hot, arrogant and annoying Daemon. I bet she also did not expect to have Aliens as next door neighbours. However, the stakes soon rise and Katy has to put her trust into two people she knows very little about to protect her and keep her alive.
Our protagonist Katy was perfect for this novel, she always stood her ground, was never discouraged, and always looked out for those around her (whether she liked them or not). She also had a guilty conscience which was a nice addition as a lot of female protagonists in YA novel, when in fights, just think about how they look and never think whether they should have really killed them. Then we have Daemon oh Daemon, with your snarky and sarcastic comments, your gorgeous looks and your (sometimes) kind heart, you will fall for him no matter what. Look out Patch Cipriano, Daemon Black is coming through!
The romance in this novel gladly did not take over the plot, though it was a key focus I was pleased to see that it didn't become an insta-love; it was prolonged. The plot was fast pace and action-packed with tense and edge-of-your-seat moments. You will undoubtably laugh-out-loud and smile-like-a-weirdo at their continuous banter, and then you will bite your nails at the action scenes. What I also loved about this novel was how our protagonist was a book blogger! I MAY have freaked out a little bit, this addition was absolutely perfect and certainly sold the novel; it was a nice touch to Katy's character.
This was an addicting novel of which I am sure will make an absolutely action-packed, dangerous and fun series. The sequel is Onyx, book two in the Lux series....more

Smart and engaging; Carter has gone and created another promising series! I really like the cover, it is adorable and perfect for the novel; it just makes me want to know what is inside.
When Grace is sent to live with her Grandad, the only thing she can think about is solving the mystery of her Mother's death, but when you are living in Embassy Row you can keep nothing a secret. With some of the worlds most powerful people in one place, can Grace solve the mystery before history repeats itself?
Sadly one of my only problems with this novel was our main protagonist Grace. I felt at times I was unable to connect with her alongside her being rather boring on occasions. However, I really liked her friendships and instead of sitting around she wanted to do something about the problems occurring.
The plot of this novel was just what I had hoped for. It was fast-pace, captivatingly dangerous, action-packed and fun. Though I felt it was a little darker than her previous series, it certainly kept you guessing and I could not stop reading until I had finished! Even one week later and my mind is still thinking about it! The plot took so many unexpected twists and turns, though the main one was rather simple to figure out if you read closely.

Fast-pace and captivating, you have to expect the unexpected of the unexpected! The last line of the synopsis was the cherry on top of the cake when I was deciding whether to request it: "For anyone who loves Shaun of the Dead", I don't think I have ever clicked a request button so rapidly! The cover: to be honest, when I saw the cover I presumed a story of espionage; its dark and quite plain meaning I am not a great fan of the cover. BUT THE CONTENT! WOW!
Eight teenagers all in detention, never thought their day could get any worse. Until everyone disappears in a flash literally. This group of teens, all incredibly different from one another, must try to work together to solve one of the most frightening events of their lives. And to top it off, they will fighting off their super-skilled, super-strong and super-alien twins, to be crowned victorious in this dangerous and life-threatening nightmare.
The characters: Rev: strong, persistent and cautious she always does whats best for those around her. What I did particularly like about her was she wasn't afraid to say she was scared and she tried her hardest to help resolve problems amongst the group.
Billie: she annoyed me, she was rather selfish whom didn't seem to care at all about her best friend or any others (except someone in particular) and just wanted to get home, with or without everyone else.
Ape: incredibly infuriating and annoying but it worked! He added some light humour and an arrogant personality to the group; what I liked most about him was his progression throughout the novel, he began to realise things and think about others more. Furthermore, he was always there to protect them all (even though it was only because he wanted to destroy things.)
Johnson: Our mysterious and careful male, he was carefree and always just went for it; you could never tell what he was really thinking.
GG: He was humorous and would just babble on about random things. He added fun to the novel and you will be surprised how strong he actually it as the novel progresses.
Carrie: Extremely argumentative and lazy, always acting like the weakest so she gets the easy way out.
The plot was incredibly unique, you are twisted from one thought to another, never enabling you to settle on one, I can certainly say I never expected the outcomes. The plot was intricately planned and fast-paced; thrillingly exciting, there was never a dull moment. Alongside the danger, there is comical moments with fun banter that will have you shaking your head with a smile plastered on your face.

I have always loved novels and films about (teen) superheroes, and straight away when I read the synopsis, I had to read it. It reminded me a bit of one of my favourite films as a child which was Sky High; I absolutely loved that film! I love the cover, especially the hardcover as their are so many different textures, it truly stands out.
Brad Baron is the younger brother of Blake Baron, one of the most famous superheroes of all time. Blake is strong, fearless and is a born hero. His younger brother Bard is considered anything but. The opposite of his hero brother, Brad has super intelligence but its not enough for him to become a hero, and so he is enrolled in the Alternative Program. But the last thing he expects to happen, is to join a new team and consider which side he is really fighting for.
The characters of this novel were fun but serious. Though they do things that maybe one would not agree with, when immersed in this world, their opinions and political views are fascinating alongside the lengths they would go to to make people understand. Brad was an intriguing protagonist, I loved the twist with his superpower and felt it really added the spark this novel needed. It was the relationship between himself and his older brother Blake. It was sad to see two brothers fight but this is what really gave the tension in this novel.
The plot was just so action-packed, informative and thrilling. The ideas presented were intriguing and had me captivated the whole time, alongside learning about all the types of superpowers and how one goes about using them. I felt the one thing about this novel that helped it to stand out was that you were reading from the perspective of a villain, not a hero. Brad being a villain really gave the novel the spark, becoming captivating to see their teams perspective and how far they would go to make things right. The back stories and history in this novel were brilliant. The details of the evolvement of the villains was a unique twist and one I did not expect, alongside the format and quotes in this novel as you went along some-what tells you what will happen but not directly; it really teases you.
Therefore V is for Villain is a unique novel that was incredibly explosive and will certainly have you craving a sequel....more

Fun, comical and dangerous; this novel will have you laughing out loud whilst contemplating how you would escape the zombie apocalypse! When I requested Donna of the Dead the cover had yet to be released, meaning the title and summary instantly had me captivated. I definitely love the cover though, it instantly stands out and the zombies in the background make me giggle.
Donna Pierce can hear voices in her head, she doesn't know why or the trigger for them, all she knows is they are extremely bossy. But when they save her life as their ship becomes overrun with zombies, Donna and Deke find refuge inside their high school. They are safe for a few days, but as resources begin to dwindle they must take risks to escape before they come in.
Donna is a fun character whom can definitely make you laugh, but alongside these she was a rather rude character and extremely self-centred which made her highly unlikable. I did love the character of Deke, he was clever, kind and caring, consistently looking out for those around him. Furthermore he was someone whom everyone liked and got along with, but didn't care about his level of popularity. Additionally I loved the secondary character of Veronica, her confidence grew throughout the novel with her leadership and intellectual skills blossoming she was an incredibly likeable character.

When Rachel is caught during a speed chase in a stolen car, she is happy to take the blame knowing her parents will get her out of the mess she has caused. She is wrong. She has been faced with a decision, attend Blackthorn Academy for one year or attend juvie for thirty days; Rachel chooses Blackthorn Academy thinking she can easily breeze through it, but when faced with Tae Kwon Do training every day, alongside the study of strange and new studies, Rachel begins to consider whether there is more to Blackthorn Academy than it first seems.
Rachel is a character whom is strong and just does something, she doesn't stop to think and so goes in head first. She is an interesting character, her evolvement throughout the course of the novel is interesting to see her transform from a girl who thinks everything is handed to her and she can get out of anything, to actually thinking about what she is doing, helping others and risking her life to solve a mystery. Furthermore I loved her comebacks, I was consistently highlighting them as they were comical and fun. This book was just, wow. Straight away you are sucked into a world wind of mysteries and dangers. The twist on elemental powers was extremely imaginative and gained control of your mind immediately. I think the cover is very colourful and gives strong presence and aspects of their elemental and mind abilities.
Once upon a time five girls were born... and sent to a foreign dimension. Earth, where magic is not present and those who inhabit it are clueless to the truths around and above them. This is where four of the girls, Zelene, Rhaya, Isauria and Ariana have lived their whole lives until they turn eighteen, however, they have no clear idea or none at all of their powers and how strong they truly are. Except Terrena who has been on the run her whole life from those who have been ordered to kill her. Each have a guardian to help them through and protect them from harms way, but what if the danger and killings have already begun?
All these girls have very different, clear personalities and backgrounds. But, they have come together, by choice or force to bring peace to the world they were born to protect. But, they do all share one trait, they are strong and would always protect the ones they love, no matter what. However, I did find it hard to remember which characters were which and who and how they related to people and situations in the story as, I found they were all thrown in very quickly which meant you had to really concentrate and go back a bit sometimes to remember. So, it did get a little confusing at times, but, you soon came to grips with the characters and so you were able to understand them more and the great detail that went into the development of their characters which was astonishing.
I also liked the way in which we were told the story from all of the girls points of view. So, one moment you would have the attack on Rhaya and next the attack on Zelene which happened at the same time. In this book there was a mind-blowing amount of thought and imagination that went into the story, and if it was not executed so fluently it could have become very confusing very quickly. The imagery was also brilliant meaning I was able to easily imagine the characters, their world and the situations they were in.

The cover is so... so pink! the complete opposite of the colours Toby likes, playing a big part to how much she had to change.
"If you’d told me at the beginning of sophomore year that I was going to end up a government operative, I would have thought you were crazy, but if you’d told me I was destined to become a cheerleader, I would have had you committed, no questions asked."
16 year old Toby ‘antisocial ‘anti-cheerleader Klein was one of those girls who slouches at the back of you maths class, is the culprit of ‘jock directed violence and who hacked Pentagon at the age of 14. She ‘has been known to use her sharp mind and clever puns for evil, rather than good but also, as many of the cheerleaders and jocks know through experience, has a very ‘infamous temper.
When Toby (or Ev) thought things could only get worse after being invited to a varsity cheerleading try-out, through coded notes and blue dye, she is proved wrong. She described it as ‘Charlie’s Angels meets James Bond meets Bring it On... yes, you hear me, these cheerleaders were government operatives and wanted Toby to become their new third degree black belt hacker. Little did she know, already on her first day she had ‘attended her first cheerleading practice. Been recruited to work for her first top-secret agency, had her first makeover, and slapped a hot guys butt (which Tara seemed ‘well jel about...I can't believe I just wrote that!) for the first time.
Toby is one of the best characters ever! Her sarcasm is epic and will cause you to struggle to come up with acceptable comebacks. I love the way she can just be herself and threaten the jocks (with a fork) and then they just laugh, because thats Toby. But she can't resist the idea of becoming a spy, even if it means spiralling into the popular crowd and cheerleading. She is bad-ass and will make you laugh-out-loud like never before!
This book is full of laughs and sarcasm to last you a life-time and is perfect for gossip lovers with a touch of danger and for those of you who, like Toby (and me!) are not early risers and when we feel like something needs to be said, we just can’t keep our mouths shut. This book will leave you begging for more and trying out all of Toby’s comments and puns, hopefully for good and not evil, like Toby. There was one thing though, at times I found the book slow paced, but it all depends on the pace of which you like your books.

This book was out-of-this-world! It was action packed to the brim with a waterfall of suspense to fill in the gaps. It was also more dangerous than I imagined it to be as you jumped straight into a deadly mission on the first page. The cover is simple, but extremely effective. I love the way the silhouette is jumping off the 'ledge' and our tech geek is over the other side on his phone, (hopefully helping her out and not playing games!) And the lights give a feeling of them being watched.
Ash and Benjamin are your normal, average teenagers. Just with a different hobby than most, after being caught on their own planned mission, they now work for Buckland who has been searched for since his 'death' a couple of years ago. They agree to find all the objects on the list for him, otherwise they turn themselves into the police. But when they get to one object they can't find, but instead gain an SOS message, they can't hide the goddesses in their hearts to find her, Alice, who they believe to be located in Google. How they do it? Lets just say they are very very clever, with a few twists to come.
Ash and Benjamin are definitely not like your normal teenage thieves. They haven't been brought up like it, but when their families are struggling they turn to selling the items they steal, or the money they receive for stealing them, to help them out. However, they are not the most skilled but make do with what they do know and the weapons they receive, courtesy of Buckland. You can also tell that they are not fearless, there is emotion inside them and they make a great team because of that. They are both also very clever, with their simple yet effective plans (however, you would never think of such clever plans!) which also cause some close shaves. The romantic aspect of their relationship can also be quite sweet but also funny at times because, its mainly Benjamin with Ash always thinking he is joking... poor boy!
I also like the idea of the ghost, no one ever sees him/her yet she/he can get into the highest security of safes and not leave a scratch to notify them of his/her appearance. But when you finally find out how she/he did it, you will be gobsmacked as to how you didn't think of it before (do you like how I didn't give the gender of out ghost away? I'm not giving ANYTHING away!) I also liked the way we had different characters from different backgrounds and 'jobs', all from the same area, but somehow twisted and linked into one plot all allowing us to see how far they have progressed in their missions and what they are thinking and their plans compared to others. The ending also left me speechless, I mean how...why... whaaaaaaat? It is a real cliffhanger of which will definitely play with you mind.
Its hard to explain what I really loved about this book without giving too much away, as I would gladly fangirl about it for hours. Lets just say their are badass villians and enough action to last you the year! Their is secrecy, betrayal, suspense and danger... x2 + kickass characters = one amazingly awesome read!

I must be honest, this book took much longer to read than a book of this size normally takes me and I think it was due to the fact that there was so much information being supplied most of the time, I didn't want to get confused or miss any out. Next, the cover, oh the cover! There are only two words in this world that can truly describe it, it looks 'kick ass', and I'm sure you shall agree.
Eve stumbled into her tribe with no memory of her life, only one word of which she used as her name. Her tribe is one of the 2% of humans still living, and who knows, thats probably already decreased. Their world has been taken over by Bane, humans who have been infected by a virus of which has turned them into, basically, robots. They must learn to survive on their own, with supplies rapidly falling and mysterious illnesses increasing, they must find a cure to this virus before all Bane begin to become more intelligent... and more violent.
Eve is one strong character, and when I say strong, I mean STRONG and DETERMINED. She works day and night with only five hours sleep and always puts her tribe before herself, even if it means travelling right into the spiders web, the city. She also feels no emotion, just a blank stare would greet you, but she is one of the most trusted in the tribe along with their leaders for her dedication and commitment for getting supplies and always helping those in need. She does not seem to dwell on her past much, which is good as she just gets on with it and so accepts how it is and her new way of life. But, when she starts to feel emotion, she does become a bit annoying as she goes on about it a lot, which is understandable as its a new experience for her, but there was just too much. I also didn't like the fact that she always had to be the one doing everything, okay you can only do so much, but seriously, you need to take a break sometimes and allow others to have a go and expand their own skills instead of hiding behind her all the time. Yes, she does it to protect them which is incredibly loyal, but I would have liked to seen a little more of her team and their own characters.
I would also have liked to see a little more of Brady, as he was the only child in the tribe it would have been interesting in the way of which he saw the world and what he was doing and going through. But of what we saw of him, I really liked his character as he always brought a stream of light into the misery of the tribe. I also liked how he always got really excited with a goofy smile on his face when Eve was going to teach him something, such as the slingshot.
The story itself was very engaging and so pulled me right in with something always happening, I almost felt like if I looked out my window I would see a Bane helicopter and them all hiding behind a tree. The idea of the book was also really imaginative and the creativeness added such adventure to it, and the action, wow, there was a lot of action. I also liked the way their camp always revolved around their gardens and the practicality of their actions.
I enjoyed this book and couldn't stop reading until the very end. The next book in the series: The Human....more
When I first read the summary of this book, I was instantly begging for more. I love a s*Received in exchange for an honest review*
When I first read the summary of this book, I was instantly begging for more. I love a story with time travel, I find it always makes a story more gripping, page-turning and on many occasions... have a danger of no return. I love the cover, there is a lot of essence of time being pronounced, the colours are toned down as if the times she has entered have blended together to create the same world. I also like the aspect of the necklace, of which you later find out plays a very important role.
Lara Crane has always wanted her mother, from the moment she left this world Lara has wanted her family to be reunited. It isn't because she doesn't love her dad, because she really does. It isn't because she doesn't have the sweetest and most loving boyfriend in the world because... she does. Its the fact that she feels guilty for her mothers death but also that she was never able to grow up with her and that if there is a way for her to turn back the clocks and keep her mother alive, she will. But, the rules from the agency are clear, you can only see... not touch. But, Lara has a special gift. But who knew that gift would result in her whole life being zapped away from her in a click of your fingers, and her world being catapulted into a different life. Literally.
Lara is a very likeable character. She is persistent, kind, loving and a very friendly character. She never gives up on her hopes and dreams no matter what the consequences and seems to adapt to her new life with maturity and a sense of willingness to do anything it takes for her family to be together again, with or without her. I also felt the way in which she dealt with Donovan deserved a round of applause (*claps hands enthusiastically*) she didn't push him away at the first hurdle, she stuck with it so she did not alert that anything strange and different has occurred and you began to really see the connection between them.
The way in which this book is written is truly amazing. Not once did I feel as if I could not cope with the information and questions we were shoved into, we were also given all the information at the same time as Lara, which makes you feel closer to the protagonist as you are essentially working out the mystery together. You also come to realise that sentences of which you read in the beginning half of the story, can firstly appear to be just part of the progression, but later turn out to be little clues and hints delicately inserted with precision which point you in another direction. The twists and turns in this book are enough to make you dizzy, but in a thrilling and dangerous way. Also, the detail that went into the process of time travelling and the way in which particular characters are linked into the company and her mums murder, all make you suspect everyone for a variety of reasons.
This book is a world wind of adventure that will persuade you that going back in time can change your life forever in ways you could never imagine. It will also have you wishing the secrets some have taken to the grave with them, should never rise from the dead... even if they are family.
This book is full of danger, suspense (as in on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense) and the persistence of a girl to bring down those in the wrong to justice. Even if it means risking her own life and existence.

The cover is really awesome! I love the way it shows her stalking her prey and then the shadow of her, as if it is her own Alt following, both ready to attack one another.
West has watched all her siblings lose their lives against their Alt's, her parents died in a car crash, she only has Chord left. But she won't let him help. When all ends badly on Chords mission when he is activated, West goes to the deepest parts of Kersh, places of which they have tossed around legends about when they were young, only to find out they are more real then she ever imagined. Then she is activated. As West goes on a wild goose chase to find and also avoid her Alt, she may find they are just playing their own game.
West is a great character, she isn't overly strong and kick-ass but she does know how to survive. She has the knowledge of how and when to attack your Alt, through her own experience. However, I was disappointed to find that when it came to killing her own Alt, she bottled it up and just ran for the hills at every chance she got. She could have easily killed her Alt on numerous occasions but she seems to leave it to the last ten days out of the thirty one to even get down and attempt it. I mean, I know its your own face, but... she can kill a stranger without her face, just not the other way round. I was also annoyed at how she didn't really think much about going for the job (sorry! Not telling you what it is!) I know she has been through some really tough times, but she doesn't really seem to truly consider the life-long consequences it can easily bring her. There was one thing I did like about her though, the way she helped an active train due to him being a very young with lack of training. She gave him two of her knives to help him and also her number so he can call to confirm he is safe and well, which I found very touching that all actives seem to help one another, no matter what.
My favourite character was Chord. He was always trying to do what's best for West, even if it means waving a gun around in the middle of a busy street to keep her safe, but also risk his own life. He always provided her with food, medical attention, money and his own opinion on what she is doing. He keeps strong and patient every time he is knocked down but he most importantly won't give up on her which I think is incredibly nice of him. But he also knows what West has been through which does create more of a connection between them, meaning they trust each other greatly meaning it shows like a glow stick.
The originality of the plot was amazing, I don't think I have read anything like it. So much detail has gone into the process of an Actives thirty one days, such as the eye scan so you can see where and what your Alt is doing at certain times. I also like the idea of the towns being wiped out, and the way that only the worthiest and the strongest Alts can stay to carry on after the Board if they were ever to be wiped out. One thing I did find to be a little cheesy was the line the Board workers said when they activated an Alt: 'Be the one, be worthy' which made me giggle a little but it still made a good affect as to how serious the situation was when they received their data and assignment.
This book will take you on a world-wind of action and adventure and the suspense to reach your Alt before they reach you. Next book in the series, Divided, expected publication February 2014 ( :( just a little while to go...)...more
