This is my first SEP book and wow, I'm really impressed by how Susan was easily able to transport me to the South with the tone and the descriptions. It's been a long while since I've read a romance book from the 2000s and even then, I hadn't read anything like this!! I found Ain't She Sweet highly recommended when I was wanting a mean girl x nice guy and Sugar Beth definitely fit that bill with her history. She is such a fun character though and is definitely one of my favorite FMCs now!
The BEST thing about this book is the strong and wonderful banter between Sugar Beth and Colin. ...more

Beach Read was so transformative to me because I immediately fell in love with Emily Henry's writing, characters and the depth and emotion through the main leads Gus and January. It made me seek out more books that would give me the same feelings as these two did. The one thing I remembered about this book over the years was that I absolutely loved the intimacy these two had, the details on eye contact and touch, and the intense emotions I felt. Gus and January on my reread were still just as magical, and their journey here will always live in my head rent-free. I absolutely grew to appreciate them again.
More recently, I found that I don't leap to contemporary romance as often as I used to, but rereading with Berry two years later really reignited my love for the genre. Emily Henry will forever be one of my go-to comfor read authors. It's always so interesting exploring how an author has grown over the years through their writing, and it was incredibly fun and satisfying to revisit Beach Read post Happy Place and Funny Story. You could really see the things that matter to EH, and what she loves to write about, and the types of commentary she makes in all of her books. I can't wait to see what she does with Great Big Beautiful Life....more
