I discovered the wonderful world of danmei earlier this year thanks to my friends, and know only a little bit of the legend of the white snake this story was based off of, so I was so excited to read a novel that would give me danmei vibes! I really enjoyed all the story beats and themes with family, duty, equilibrium, and a lot of the characters here too. I also have to say that I really enjoy Sher Lee's writing style here because this book was just so easy to consume and gobble up!!
And Sher also did a great job with taking the original story and making it into a super cute YA queer retelling with a lot of heart. There were some twists and turns I didn't expect in the story overall, which made this even more fun!!
Xian and Zhen were so adorable together and their dynamic & journey was so fun to read. On top of that, their individual character development was well-explored too. The pacing worked out really nicely for a standalone, and while I greedily wish we got some more, I think things would've been too drawn out for the worse if it did.
A really great YA danmei-like standalone experience!...more

I first read and loved many aspects of Wilde Boys (Gravity/Free Fall) as well as her second MMF of trier,cGive Me More, but both suffered from things not being fleshed out enough imo and not having a good balance between all of the characters. I wasn't sure I wanted to read another MMF from Sara.
Home Wrecker, in theory, shouldn't be my fave of the three. The reason I love MMFs and why choose in the first place is so there isn't actual cheating. So when Sara comes out with a premise like this, where I absolutely abhor cheating, and when I didn't feel like there was a good poly balance in prior MMFs, I was absolutely hesitant.
But Sara, being Sara, made this WORK and soothed things over really well in my opinion. It's honestly probably my favorite book from her now which I didn't expect at all either! The premise is simple, the dynamics are great, the feelings were there. The spice is hot as fuck and I vibed the entire way through. I love Dean the most here probably, but Briar and Caleb are perfect for him and I really enjoyed everyone's individual journey as well as the journey of them as a throuple.
My biggest complaint is probably the third act, but it still worked out in the end for me, especially in comparison with her other MMFs and heck, even MFs when it comes to pacing and drama.
I'm super excited for the next two books and I feel like there's a good chance book 4 will top this for me given what we've learned about the Goode family in this book....more

MESSY AND TOXIC RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS GALORE. I loved it. All the character vibes were immaculate. The POVs of all three main characters were really fun. At first, the pacing was a little slow when it came to the plot, but I easily fell in love with all of the characters and the vibes were perfect. Some themes got a bit repetitive, but honestly I was so 10000% committed and here for the entire ride.
When things ramped up, I simply could not put the book down. Can't wait to see what Samotin does next!...more

I had no idea what to expect for Flix, but Chani IMMMEDIATELY grabbed my attention with the blurb alone, and the opening chapters made it impossible to put this book down. The entire ride was SUPERB!! The dynamics that Flix and Ani have are probably my favorite from the Devils of Vitality so far, and with all the other books in the series, I really wasn't sure I would find a new fave!
But I've always had a weakness for freak x freak and second chance, and Chani absolutely delivered. The cameos from the rest of the Devils were great, the pacing was fun, and the spice was super hot. Could not ask for more and honestly a refreshing entry into the series. As always, I can't wait to see what comes next. Desperately hoping for Berga or Madden!!...more

After some time I downgraded to 3.5-4 rather than a 4.5/5 since I wanted more romance. But still fun!!
3.5 rounded up. I've mentioned before that Between the Devil and the Sea is my absolute favorite read from Chani and I 1000% loved Gael there the whole way. He was always great and obviously Shade's biggest ally. Even back then when I was reading it, I was desperately hoping that he would get a book. AND YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM THAT IT'S HERE. I'm happy that Chani delivered on a lot of things, but just keep in mind that this isn't anywhere near as dark.
First off, it's Chani's first MMM and not only is it one of my fave types of MMM, but it's got a SUPER FUN TWIST AND TURN. I can't even comment on it because I do think it's best going in blind. I'll just say that this will be a fun reread. ...more

This is a special book for me since it's my first series from Chani. Rereading it a year later, I'm bumping it to 4.5 and rounding it up. It's a great omnibus -- but do be sure to check out Wren's story novella as well that isn't included here. I did like the cute bonus content which came in the form of interviews and also extended author notes. Full RTC!...more

I know I literally just said in my review for the first book that the humor and insta-love didn't work as much for me despite loving the spice, but HOLY SHIT. Felix and Brie ARE SO HOT AND SO GOOD. Maybe it's because there was a love potion involved, and y'know, sure, maybe I've totally got a weak spot for werewolves... ...more
