First, let me get this off my chest: The heroine, Freya, was SO. DAMN. ANNOYING!
PERFECT FOR YOU is a light and way-too-f'n-silly romantic contemporary where the heroine has a deep aversion to her hot, sexy, rich, nice, generous and damn-near-perfect neighbor Greg, who just so happens to be a lawyer. Because (according to Freya) all lawyers are bottom feeders with the single goal of hurting people. Makes sense right? No? Uh, not to me either. Which hence lies much of the problem with this story. It doesn't add up.
Freya is struggling at work and has lost her creative edge, so she decides she needs to get laid in order to get her 'muse' back. She posts a personal ad, and the weird dates begin.
Freya's little sister is convinced Greg is the right choice for her sister and sets about coaching him. He is a great guy and doesn't play her games, but he does take a few pieces of advice along the way. The sister continues to meddle with Freya's attempts to date by coaching the other guys into screwing up, which just adds to the oddity of this story.
Freya continues to resist Greg's charming advances while she lobs insult after insult at him. Still, she does agree to let him woo her with nice dinners and agrees to have sex with him. Just to get her muse back. But she treats him like a boy-toy, and continues to date other guys even after she begins sleeping with Greg. Her denial over Greg really being a good-guy and not the crazy evil person she wants to believe him to be gets extremely frustrating, and her behavior towards him is so hard to watch without cringing.
Greg, who really is waaay too good for Freya, is the best part of this story and why I gave it two stars. He was a great character but he deserved better.
I listened to this on audio, and I will give props the narrator. She was excellent, just sad it had to be this story. ...more

Honestly, I just wasn't in the mood for this amount of non-stop inner-dialogue and their chronic over-thinking about life. It was bogging the story down and kept the plot from moving anywhere. In a nutshell: BORING, SLOW and NOTHING SPARKED my interests.
This is very much a coming of age book, and deals with the normal stresses of an 18 y/o college girl. Boyfriends, exams, living on their own for the first time, sibling rivalries, food, parties...etc. In other words, she doesn't really have any problems if this is all she can focus on, right? Yet she whines like life is so hard and terrible. I didn't get it.
But honestly, I prefer my romances when it's about a woman finding true love, not about a girl getting her fist kiss. I want her to find a husband and HEA, not just a good first boyfriend. I couldn't relate to the issues the heroine Cath found so important.
I debated continuing on, but after reading Susanne's review, as well as the comments, I was pretty sure this wasn't going to pick up. Not my cuppa. So, it's a DNF.
This wasn't a traditional romance novel, but I enjoyed the romantic aspect of this story quite a bit. There was also 4.5 'Nerds Need Love Too' stars.
This wasn't a traditional romance novel, but I enjoyed the romantic aspect of this story quite a bit. There was also a fun and interesting journey with Don and Rosie gathering dozens of samples of DNA to determine who might be Rosie's biological father. It made me laugh quite a few times!
The hero, Don Tillman, is a 39 y/o socially inept scientist who lives his life based on strict rules. He never believed that love, romance and marriage was for him. But when a friend comments on his likeliness of being an excellent husband, he rethinks his possibilities.
Because of his lack of social awareness he reaches out to his friend and co-worker, a professor of psychology, who is experienced in human relationships. They devise a plan to help Don find a wife, and his buddy (along with his wife) advises Don nearly every step of the way.
In his quest to find the perfect wife, he creates an online dating profile with an extensive survey based on a wide range of desirable attributes, but in the meantime while he is waiting for Ms Perfect he devotes his time to helping a lady named Rosie find her biological father.

This story had a lot of fun twists and turns, and a few predictable parts. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey these two took that ultimately had them discovering more about themselves and what is truly important.
At first I couldn't imagine how the author was going to convince me that these two seemingly opposite types could fall in love and have a chance for happily-ever-after, but by the end I was a believer.
The Rosie Project is less of a romance and more of a tale of one mans journey to find love and discover some truths about himself.
By the way, I listened to this one on audiobook, and loved the narrator! I highly recommended the audio format....more

Tina, aka Anna Moder, has been on the run from an abusive ex-husband for several years now, changing identities often. After she rescues Caleb from a attack, they end up on a road trip through Alaska. They both have a lot of secrets, as well as deep trust issues.
This was such a fun read! The road trip opened up a lot of fun scenarios, from strip bars to seedy motels. Caleb's efforts at hiding his 'werewolf' identity was pretty funny at times too. And it was my kind of sexy steamy. Loved Caleb!
It can be read as a stand-alone, but I would recommend starting from the beginning of this series. They are all super fun books, and there are some overlapping characters.
I listened to this one on audio, and the narrator was fantastic.

I really (and I mean REALLY!) enjoyed the opening of this book, and was looking forward to a great read. But in the end, I gave it too much of my time and finally just had to call it quits.
Oh, it started off so funny and original. The 'Wallbanger' and 'Cock blocker' jokes were cute. Simon was such a mystery, and Caroline was a person I would love to hang with if she was a real person. Her conversations with her cat had me laughing! And when Simon and her finally met, the banter was so well done.
The story stayed on pace for a while, but around the halfway mark it got a little juvenile for my tastes. In the quest for friendship with Simon, Caroline got a bit whiney and started playing head games. The banter got a bit over the top. The cliches got a bit thick. And I was like "WTF Caroline?!
And then the story got really farcical, but I persisted. Caroline started to really rub me wrong. What is happening to her? She is turning into a desperate, stupid big fat cliche from every bad Chick Lit book I've read.
Then she really, really started to make me not like her. The romance between her and Simon was turning into rainbow farting unicorns, and the delusions dancing in her head were no longer entertaining. I no longer wanted to hang with her, assuming she was a real person. And the story about her friends got weirder and weirder.
By the time I quit, Simon was the only thing about this book I still really liked. And that is how I plan to remember him, because I am so afraid if I finish this book I will end up not liking him either.

Not bad! THE THEORY OF ATTRACTION is a light BDSM romance, and has a nice spin as the Dom is a socially inept scientist who struggles coping with normal social situations. He prefers a life with rules, structure and even routines. Oddly, the BDSM life is perfectly suited for him. I do wish this one had more romance in it, especially towards the end, but it was a pretty good read for some light erotica BDSM.

Ivan enlists his neighbor Camilla's help to teach him how to better socialize in group situations. If he stands a chance of earning a large grant, he will need to win over a tough group of financial donors.
What he didn't realize is that Camilla has a huge crush on him, and despite being 'just friends' she desperately wants more from him.
I enjoyed this story, but wasn't particularly blown away. Once Ivan reveals his preferred lifestyle, it doesn't take long for Camilla to be a willing submissive in training. What transpires opens both of them up to new ideas, and stretches both of them out of their comfort zones, but I didn't feel it went far enough to really satisfy this story as a romance.
I was hoping Ivan would become a bit more 'adjusted' and ready for a relationship then what transpires, which I didn't think happened. So not sure how much I bought their 'HEA'. There was a lot of talk about the club scene too, which I felt went a bit unresolved as well.
It was a cute story with some steamy BDSM kink, but it really had nothing particularly special in the romance area (if I am going to be honest). Overall, not bad....more
4.5 stars. Oh, this was such a sweet, heart-tugging, holiday historical romance. In a genre thick with Dukes and Earls and wealthy business men, I lov4.5 stars. Oh, this was such a sweet, heart-tugging, holiday historical romance. In a genre thick with Dukes and Earls and wealthy business men, I loved how this hero was just a 'mere' Doctor. There were a lot of laugh out loud moments too, including his father who was a 'hoarder' living neck deep in scrap metal and other desirable items he couldn't bear to part with.
Doctor Jonas Grantham was a practical no-nonsense man, and you might even say he was a bit anal-retentive in terms of his personal rules and social decorum. So when he spots Lydia and declares her the 11th prettiest girl around, we get a real taste of the kind of hero we are going to meet in this story. He had a one-of-a-kind look on life that was often shocking and also quite enjoyable, and I fell for it hook, line and sinker along with Lydia.
Five year prior, and when Lydia was only 15 years old, she was unfortunately overly trusting and ignorant in the ways between men and women. A quick doctor visit confirmed the worse, and thus began her life of not trusting men nor herself again. That terrible day was one she would never forget, including the young intern working with the doctor - Jonas Grantham.
Jonas soon realizes Lydia was that young girl who got terrible medical advice from a quack doctor he interned with years earlier, a day he wished desperately he could do over. He also realizes Lydia is the one for him, and sets out to make her his wife.
But the feelings weren't exactly mutual, and 18 months later he was no closer to making her his wife. So he finagles an agreement from her to help him on his medical errands, while also making her a wager that he believes he can't possibly lose.
If you enjoy historical holiday romances, then you should definitely add this one to your list. And while Lydia was a small character in book one 'The Duchess Wars' of this series, this novella can easily be read stand-alone with zero problems.
This story was pure fun, a lot of heart, and a good dose of heat. Jonas is a hero that I won't soon forget. I highly recommend it....more

This is Chance's story, the adopted young man who lived on the streets, nearly wild, until Wolf and Mary adopted him at the age of 14. Now a grown man and a former Army Ranger, Chance is working undercover on a mission to bring down a known terrorist. After discovering that his enemy has a beautiful daughter, he sets a plan of seduction into motion to find out just what she knows.
Sunny wants to avoid captures from her father, and she also has a sister that she protects, so as a result she has spent her entire life on the run. When a random meeting with a handsome pilot offers her a chartered flight to Seattle, she doesn't think twice. But when the airplane goes down in a remote area due to faulty fuel pump, her life takes on a new meaning for her. Chance is pure temptation, and under the circumstances she sees no reason to refuse him.
I enjoyed this steamy romance, but will admit I wasn't impressed with Chance's tactics of using Sunny. While it was clear he had emotions for her and he really was a good guy, his mission to extract information from her using seduction was his highest priority. The lies roll of his lips, and she doesn't suspect a thing.
When Sunny discovers his deception, I guess I wanted more groveling and fighting. The resolution was pretty quick, but it was still very sweet and sexy. The suspense action toward the end of the book was also exciting, and it wasn't easy to predict. I liked that. I also enjoyed seeing Wolf and Mary again, plus the rest of the brothers and their children.
This wasn't my favorite of the series, but I was happy to have more. It made for a nice romance read, albeit I had to stretch my beliefs at times. I listened to it on audio, and I enjoy the narration too.
ME: "Hey, this is just like Fifty-Shades of Grey!!"

I k 4* 'Fifty Shades Didn't Write it First' Stars
ME: "Hey, this is just like Fifty-Shades of Grey!!"
YOU: "Noooo, seriously?!!"
ME: "Yes, really!!"
I know, I know It seems as if EVERY book these days is being compared to the Fifty phenomenon. But to me, Fifty is just recycled material and this book is yet more proof. Romance authors have been writing about super sexy, powerful, rich billionaires with an obsessive streak for a ‘mousy heroine for YEARS! Tortured heroes? Also been done, done, and done. But somehow if you toss in more salty language, make the sex scenes a bit more ‘kinky (cough, cough **period sex **cough, cough), and ramp up the angst some people might believe it’s brand-spanking (pun intended) new.
The romance suspense by Linda Howard Now You See Her was written 10-years ago, and features a remarkably handsome gazillionaire Richard Worth obsessively falling for the innocent, mousy-but-sexy heroine Paris Sweeney. Kabam! I am talking HOT connection, insta lust, and quivering body parts. Richard is well endowed, bedroom savvy, and only has eyes for his heroine. (Sound familiar??)
Richard is separated from a cheating wife, and mourning the loss of their unborn child. An ex-Army Ranger, he is not a man to mess with. The divorce proceedings suddenly get complicated quickly when he wants to ‘fuck (his word!) Sweeney NOW. He is obsessed with having her. And she wants him too! But not until he is a single man who can offer her more.
Sweeney has a special gift; she can see ghosts. After meeting Richard her paranormal gift manifests into her sleep walking and painting murder scenes of actual murders. Turns out Richard's soon-to-be ex is pissing all kinds of people off, and (surprise, surprise! NOT) ends up murdered. And Sweeney has been slowly painting the death scene over the last several nights. Now someone wants to kill her! But not if Richard can help it. He will protect his woman at all costs.
I won’t tell you more of the plot, but I can say the Fifty storyline is nothing new folks. There are of course a lot plot differences as well, but many of the main plot points are strikingly similar. And since many books with less similarities are being compared, I think we also can also throw this one on that huge pile.
While Richard didn’t want to hurt Sweeney for his own pleasures, and there isn’t any period sex (thank GOD!), it is hardly the first romance book to feature an obsessive and horny hot billionaire stalking/pursuing a sexy-but-mousy heroine who will resist him until it drives him mad with want.
Just saying, that's all. Your mileage may vary.
While this isn’t my favorite Linda Howard book, it is a solid romance suspense classic. Several months ago I picked this up at an Audible sale knowing that it’s hard to go wrong with a book by Linda Howard and I was right. 9 1/2 listening hours well spent.

How often do we get to read this kind of romance?!
This is a book I would call low to mid on the angsty scale, which means the story focuses on the very pleasant and oh-so-romantic aspect of the H/h. There is some angst and drama though, it just doesn't hit you over the head. Not at all.
Why not 5-stars? (Cause at times this was a big 6++ stars) I will say that his dialogue got a bit 'syrupy sweet' or flowery' for my personal taste when he started to gush his love and devotion toward the end, but I totally understood and believed this character would do/act/say just this way. He was in love with a person for years (and believably so!), who thought him a prig and rejected him. Oh man, did I route for him!!
The intimate scenes were really well done, I think, but I'll be really honest - they came at points where the story was SO INTERESTING that I skimmed the sex scenes just to get back to the story. I know what most of you are thinking , and it's one crazy complaint to say 'hey, your REALLY hot sex scenes interrupted a great part of the story!!' but for me, that's what it was.
I didn't read book 1 of this series, but it wasn't necessary. This book stood very well on it's own.
Lastly, I have to say this book has a HUGE HOOK to get you to read the next book. There is a secondary story, obviously the H/h of the next book, and the ending(ish) had me on pins and needles to read more. Well done.

In Fifty Shames of Earl Grey, Anna Steele is an airhead virgin college student who meets the bazillionaire stalker Earl Grey, and soon gets pulled into his sick and twisted world of BDSM - erotic role playing for Bards, Dragons, Sorcery and Magick.
This story pokes so much fun at all the whacked out parts of Fifty, including Ana's lip biting problem (now a nose picking problem that turns him on, lol!), the many over used phrases like his long fingers and eye gazing, the infamous 'contract' and tampon scenes, and of course the erotic sex he likes rough and kinky. It also pokes fun at fan-fiction, Dr Drew, E.L.James, and Twilight!!
OMG, I busted a gut listening to this book. (Thanks Tantor for the audiobook ARC!!) The laughs come so fast, I will need to re-listen to this as I am sure I missed a few while I was laughing so hard.
The audio book narration was also AWESOME. Allyson Ryan has a great voice and was able to pull of this kind of humor and parody. Her Anna was spot-on as a nitwit heroine, and her male voice for Grey sounded sooooo stalker-ish, LOL.
Highly recommended for a great laugh. :-) If you've read Fifty, and know a bit about the books history as Twilight fan-fic, you can't go wrong.
