Rounding up but I can't rate this a 4 star because I absolutely HATE a surprise pregnancy trope. It kind of came out of nowhere - I was loving this and then looked on the author's Instagram and realized that was one of the tropes. I will say, in terms of this trope, it wasn't too terrible. But I'll get to that.
Erina is a keeper (maid) in Kaldur's home. She's human, and even though she's been half in love with Kaldur for the 2 years she's been working there, he has never noticed her. But he finally notices her, and when he smells her blood after she cuts her hand he realizes she's his blood mate. Kaldur gives Erina a deal that she can't refuse, so they have an agreement in place for blood.
I appreciated that Erina didn't know Kaldur is her blood mate - it just left this amazing tension. As the rest of this series I feel like the writing is so easy to read, we have a lot going on, pleasant side characters, and a massive amount of chemistry and tension. I had a great time reading this, and the unexpected pregnancy only slightly lessoned my enjoyment. Which is saying a lot, because usually pregnancy/kids is an automatic 1 star for me. I feel like the pregnancy wasn't a huge deal and was easy to ignore for the most part? ...more

This was amazing - maybe better than the first one? The writing is so nice in the way that it's very easy to read and flow through each scene. Again, the worldbuilding isn't the focus and I still have a ton of questions, but it works and I'm not going to think too much about it. We are here for the amazing romance/chemistry/tension!
This is a bit of a forbidden romance - Millie is the daughter of a chef and has traveled to a bunch of different worlds. Her father passes away, so she's all alone working at this bar/lounge place. Kythel goes there one evening and is immediately drawn to her. They both have different reasons to stay away from each other so it's all very tense.
I'm obsessed with this series, it's just so much fun. I just wish the series was finished already, because I'm not sure I can stand waiting for the rest!...more
Let's not look at the cover, okay? I'm still unsure how I feel about this genre, but these books (I'm already starting the 3rd one) are fanta4.5 Stars
Let's not look at the cover, okay? I'm still unsure how I feel about this genre, but these books (I'm already starting the 3rd one) are fantastic. SO much tension and spice. The plot is well thought out, and things tie together nicely. It's so incredibly easy to read, and I had fun the entire time. I also need to point out that while there aren't a lot of side characters "on screen" during this, they all are uniquely charming and interesting within like 5 lines of their descriptions. I'm not sure how Zoey does that so well, but it's quite impressive. Everyone feels like their own person, which I can't say about a lot of what I read.
This is an arranged marriage - Gemma (our strong and sensitive FMC) needs to save her family who is drowning in debt and Azur (a high lord) has revenge in mind. It's very well done and I could barely put this down. ...more

This was really good, but a bit too short and at times the story felt a little odd. The entire story basically takes place in Marion's cottage. It's all very warm and interesting. I didn't realize this was an alien/futuristic situation, which I would have never picked up and haven't read before, but I kind of loved it.
I loved Marion who is a very gentle and soft FMC. I feel like we usually get the sassy warrior FMCs in basically all fantasies, but love that Marion is emotional and gentle and trying to do good in her small corner of the world. It was all very lovely.
I enjoyed how the story played out, but I'm not sure how I feel about Lorik. His instant interest/their romance altogether felt a bit contrived..? I'm not sure how else to describe it. Like I said it's so short that there wasn't a lot of room for tension and development.
This isn't something to read (and now that I've read other books by Zoey, I find this holds true for her other series) for robust worldbuilding. It all comes together nicely and is easy to understand, but not a lot is explained. ...more
