My list of reading has included John Locke, Brion McClanahan, Frederic Bastiat, Ezra Taft Benson, J. Reuben Clark, Heber J. Grant, Abel Upshur, Thomas Paine, Cleon Skousen, Hugh Nibley, and also George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, short quotes from many other Founders, and much more. Latter-Day Liberty by Connor Boyack further cements everything I have been discovering by these other authors: that Natural Law is GOD'S LAW, and every one of God鈥檚 children has rights that COME FROM HIM, including LIFE, LIBERTY, and the right to PROPERTY so that we might pursue happiness.
Mr. Boyack does a phenomenal job of explaining these principles to the reader, but goes further than that . . . he ties these principles to the intents of the founding fathers, and thereafter shows not only some of the origins of our sacred founding documents (because, YES, it DOES matter what the founders were reading at the time of their inspired work), but also some of the key historical turning points where government was improperly, and deceitfully, changed into the tyrannical leviathan that we have today. Truly, our Founders would not recognize their produced Republic any longer. For that matter, even 鈥渨e the people鈥 can鈥檛 seem to understand that this is NOT a democracy, and was never intended to be such. But, I digress . . .
Kudos, Mr. Boyack: This is one of the best books on the subject of Liberty that I have ever read....more

Having had Professor Nibley as an instructor in college, and knowing a little bit about the man and his incredible skills in languages and history (both ancient and modern), I looked forward to the day when I would have the funds to add this book to my library, and the time to read it. And it did not disappoint! Bravo, Professor. Incredibly well done....more

The author of the journal is a talented writer, and quite adept at describing his experiences. He does so in such a way that you can almost picture the hilly countryside and the little towns and even the cobbled streets between old castles and farmland.
Surprisingly, the tone of the related events is upbeat and positive, even as the author describes in heart-wrenching detail the life-and-death struggles of the Doughboys along the trenches of the Western Front. You will cheer for them as they fight to restore freedom to the French, and successfully prevent the Germans from advancing any farther.
I would recommend this story to anyone looking for an honest, detailed peek into the Great War....more

And it made me very, very angry about the corruption in our government. So much so that I attended the Tea Party gathering at the state capital building today (9/12/09), something I have never done before. Rallies and protests are not generally in my nature. But I have had enough.
I have a word to say to every Senator and Representative in this country: A sleeping giant is awakening. In 2010 and 2012, every single one of you who will not uphold the Constitution, who insists on turning a blind eye to corruption in our government, who refuses to force the Federal Government to stop spending away the futures of our children and grandchildren -- WE ARE GOING TO GET RID OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. I hope you like your new job flipping burgers or running a taco stand.

Even though I knew what the outcome of the story would be as I turned the pages, I was pulling for the Herrin family, especially Erin, as I read about their struggles over all of those long, trial filled years. She is one tough woman. Congratulations to both her and her husband Jake for their beautiful family and the happiness they have found together. What a wonderful testament to forgiveness, love, and miracles. I am sure that Heaven has many special blessings yet in store for them. May God continue to bless the Herrin family!
And as for the co-writer of the book, Lu Ann Staheli, I was mightily impressed by her skill in weaving the tale. This is the first work of hers I have ever read. Only a driving need for sleep allowed me to put the book down, and then only until I knew I had time to finish the other half of the book in one sitting.

He is a Polish man who escapes from a Russian labor camp in Siberia during WW-II. I thought this book was interesting on several fronts, including the sighting of a Yeti in the Himalayas. The main message of the book is one of hope and optimism. The language is a bit raw in the book. If you ever wondered what the Russians were doing while Germany was committing the atrocities they became famous for, this book will open your eyes. They were not much better in my opinion....more
