i was so ready to devour a romcom about dentists (because something about ppl in the medical field are just so yum), but was disappointed to find this book so boring.
a brush with love felt dangerously close to instalove and i hate that.
the connection between dan and harper wasn’t necessarily bad but it wasn’t good either. their interactions felt sorta lust-driven and i wasn’t into it.
i read another review saying harper was such a two-sided character and i couldn’t agree more. she’s anxious but then she’s confident with her patients and she’s care-free with dan.
mmmm yeah—couldn’t connect.
i love friends to lovers but this just isn’t what i want to read right now.
i was also considering powering through this but why waste my time when i could be reading something i actually enjoy?...more

they were enemies at the start, and then fifty five pages in they’re suddenly laughing and making jokes and he’s never smiled at her before because he’s just such a “grump but now he’s the most beautiful person in the world because he smiled?
ehhhh no. too fast too forced that’s not how it works
HOW CAN THEY BE ENEMIES THEN BEST FRIENDS FASTER THAN I CAN BLINK??
their reason for being enemies wasn’t even good this is not an enemies to lovers sorry i’m so caught up on that because it’s my favorite trope HELLO?
point being, the relationship and interactions felt so so forced SO FORCEDDD
the convos that happened between the male characters (and keep in mind i’m only 13% in) was weird i swear this isn’t how men talk. it’s not like they said anything greasy but it’s just unnatural idk how to describe it
