A Crane Among Wolves is a mirror of one of the devastating, cancerous events that happened in the history of Korea. It is a dark tale of love lost amidst the chaos, reign of greed, with blood spilt and souls tortured〞only to spark hopes of a brighter future in the end. Now you really have to reach the actual end to really recover.
This is book is dark, haunting, but is also beautiful in its mysterious ways that you would just long for Suyeon＊s, Iseul and Daehyun＊s freedom. The chemistry of the latter is to die for. A slow burn in deed with wails and tears to be shed after the riverside tragedy.
I tried to read this book four months ago but I was busy with work. Thinking about that now, I wouldn＊t fully appreciate this book had I tried to finish it four months ago in chunks every time I＊m free because I know at night＊s rest time, it will gnaw at my mind, my insides if I don＊t read to continue.
This book is unputdownable, leaving you thirsting after words until you reach the end. I hadn＊t in mind to finish it swiftly, I clung to its words reading again the passages as if carving it to my heart. This is so well-written that it will consume half of your soul. It＊s simply one of those books that you will treasure and embrace tightly as you read along, with few stops just to breathe before you allow yourself to continue.
All in all, A Crane Among Wolves is haunting beauty packed with action, adventure, romance, and mystery weaved in an eloquent double-point-of-view narration.

Yep, it did hit me. Instead of firework, it＊s anger. Imagine the drowsiness at night that I feel just to reach the chapter, the determination, the time? The build-up just to crash my hopes. I just have the perfect image in mind about 42. Yea, right. I fucking cried and wailed, hand in my fist! I wanted to just turn off my kindle because I＊m mad seeing how the castle I build with all patience crumble. Yep, it＊s a bait. Nevertheless, worth your time meeting the green forest, Daehyun. What more? The trio's about to be accompanied by a healing priest.
Just couldn't ignore the obvious hint of Christianity among the themes, though. Not that it's a problem for me, but it could be for anyone else....more

Take Us Back to Genesis recounts the last year of Timothy Ignacio's stay in Genesis House, an orphanage in Baguio City founded by an old couple who couldn't bear a child. It is a tale of young love, unconventional family structure, dreams, grief, and regrets.
It is very digestible and hooking from the start. I like the narrator's direct but reminiscent voice, although, there are times when the narration is dull or monotonous and all I can ask for is more use of imagery to drag me back to the story and keep pace with what's going on. It's really short but it took me hours to finish it because of this problem.
Nonetheless, it is a nice young adult novel by a new author with swell climax, I was actually hoping for the bomb, and thank gee it was there. I love getting nervous and anticipating when's the bomb gonna explode (even if I'm not sure if there's really a bomb, ya know.) The orphanage's system is a bit idealistic to me, nevertheless, it's refreshing and heartwarming (and kinda sad, considering...) Anyway, we need more people like Lolo (and his wife!!) I love the character dynamics. The banters and dialogues are funny and remarkable!
These are my favorite lines from this novel, it's still making me tear up, lol:

The author is very considerate of the characters and I love her for that!
Although it is too short for me and a little fast-paced, the author weaved the story very well and I can see why it turned out like that. I like how it ended too. The focus of the story did not only revolve around romance but also family ties, and acceptance (and disownment, an issue that really happens in reality) of the LGBTQA community.
Aside from that, I like the author's take on sexy scenes (which are not sexy at all). Can any other yaoi be like this one? I will seriously read a bunch if they're all so innocent and decent like this one! No more toxic yaois, please. But yea, who am I kidding? Yaoi is all about physical love, right. So, I guess it will not happen. But at least tone it down a little, if you know what I mean. You can write steamy scenes without making it toxic.
This series is more aligned to shounen-ai category....more

Your heart would also pound, agitatedly, if I may say so, from the anguish felt through tragedies all-through out volume 4. This is kind of heavy for me〞depressing and dark too. Sometimes, when I go back to those moments, I can＊t help but cry. Ming Yi＊s bones is enough words to hurt my soul. Shi Qinxuan is one of my favorite characters in the story and to witness the ruination of Shi brothers is terribly traumatic.
I believe MXTX is slowly decapitating the tumors (NO PUN INTENDED); Ling Wen absolutely had her days numbered, and Pei Ming＃ can＊t help but feel betrayed since I started liking him at the Blackwater arc. Even though he didn＊t build Xie Lian a coffin! Only made four for himself, Shi brothers, and Ming Yi! And the slowly unraveling of the gods unbecoming. Is this so all taboos may be shattered?
And pound from happiness injected with Quan Yizhen＊s curious and funny character (he＊s my new favorite!) I adored how he sneakily donate gold bars to Xie Lian and how he just unapologetically be aggressive and weird〞and just how he feels at home in the Puqi Shrine staying with Xie Lian.
But I miss Shi Qingxuan terribly.
My love for this series will never fade, it just keeps on burning, keeps on getting stronger and stronger. But be warned, read this series ONLY IF YOU WANT TO RUIN YOUR LIFE.
